About the Position: 

  • The Nutrition Assistant will support nutrition officers on recording all program and beneficiary-related information in the CMAM programs, BSFP, IYCF, GMP, and MAMI, as well as screen the Anthropometric measurements of children aged 0-59 months, PLW, and other cases, and assist the Nutrition Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Documents and properly fill the relevant information in the register Book, admission, and Ration cards in TSFP/OTP/BSFP programs and keep those documents in a very accessible place or submitted to the immediate supervisors/nutrition officer/Project Manager-Refugee.

  • Ensure and check that all messages to careers or mothers are consistent and fully understood about the programs.

  • List out and submit absentees, defaulters, static weight, and weight loss beneficiaries to the 

  • Keep and respect the rule and regulation of the organizations.

  • Give and respect to other staff and create peaceful working environments.

  • Properly keep all anthropometric equipment and materials which are available in the working area.

  • Properly attend and follow with the work schedule in each SC/OTP, BSFP and TSFP Programs.

  • Update the Nutrition officer on the implementation of the Measuring activities on daily basis.

  • Make sure that all beneficiaries have got weekly measurement in SC/OTP and TSFP Program.

  • Documents and properly fill the relevant information in the Ration Cards before and after 

  • Distributing the correct amount of food items in SC/TSFP/OTP/BSFP programs.

  • Keep and respect the rule and regulation of the organizations.

  • properly given all necessary food items and services in the given time according to National, UNHCR/WFP guideline.

  • Respect the dignity of the target group, carers and members of the refugee and host communities.

  • Conduct Monthly two-step screening, MUAC screening in nutrition centres and communities for children aged 0 to 59 months, PLW, elderly, and other cases, with referral to relevant programs.

  • Assist with translation for refugees in the community during assessments, home visits, counselling sessions and other activities as may be required.

  • Assist in the mobilization of community members for support groups, community forums and sensitization campaigns within the communities.

  •  Accompany case workers for home visits, conduct individual visits, follow-ups and provide feedback reports to the Community Outreach Agents (COAs).

  • Monitor all supplies and medical equipment s availability.

  • Performs related tasks as required by nutrition officer and project manager-refugee.

Mainstreaming Issues:

  • The employee must read, understand and implement, according to area of responsibility, 

  • GOAL’s policies and Procedures on mainstreaming of Gender, HIV/AIDS and Child Protection.

  • Work on increasing the sensitivity and awareness of community towards Gender, HIV/AIDS and Child Protection issues

Compliance Issues:

  • Familiarize self and understand to GOAL Donor Compliance issues, specifically to the terms.

  • and conditions of the Donor the programme is working on and comply with same in area of Responsibility. 

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrable ability at report writing. 

  • Ability to work flexibly including weekends.

  • Commitment to and understanding of GOALs aims, values and principles. 

  • Fluency in written and spoken English, Amharic and local language is required

  • Accountability & responsiveness within areas of responsibilities

  • Familiarity to local culture and speak local language.

  • Resilience/ Maintains focus and intensity and remains optimistic, persistent and professional even under adverse, stressful or difficult situations.

  • Passionate, strongly dedicated and highly committed to work for the improvement of the poor community.
