Under the general supervision of the Eye care clinic supervisor, the optometrist plans organizes, and treats common eye conditions, performs minor surgeries, prescribes vision aids, and recognizes serious optical diseases. He/ She often works in clinics performs routine eye tests, and refers patients to a doctor for more serious treatment.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

Plan and undertake the overall clinical activities 

• Performs thorough routine eye inspection

• Performs minor surgeries as required 

• Identifies the patients visual alertness, field of vision and hand eye coordination

• Diagnoses sight problems, such as nearsightedness and color blindness

• Recognizes and treats common eye conditions

• Prescribes corrective lenses and medications

• Maintain accurate medical files for all patients 

• Promote eye health by teaching patients about proper eye care technique

• Records  all diagnosis and treatment plans including transfers and therapeutic prescriptions

• Recommends eye-strengthening exercises and vision therapy

• Identifies  serious optical diseases, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and others

• Refers patients to a doctor when necessary

• Consult on the establishment of an eye clinic and optical workshop and its organization

• Provides general consultation for better implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of eye health care activities.

• Provides periodical care such as vision testing and prescribing glasses and contact lenses

• Diagnoses and treats eye diseases and injuries.

• Performing any other related duties that can facilitate effectiveness and efficiency of the eye health care project

Job Requirements

Qualification: BSC in Clinical Optometry

experience: 5 year and above

Required Skills: Leadership, and communication skill
