Job Description
The position is in the Publications and Conference Management Section (PCMS), Publications, Conference and Knowledge Management Division (PCKMD). The Accounting Assistant at this level reports to a senior staff member or the Chief of a Unit/Section.
Within delegated authority, the Accounting Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
Collects cash from ticket sales and deposits in the bank,
Records and reconciles accounting transactions.
Assists in the processing of payments to vendors for goods and services. This includes, amongst other things, calculating, inputting, and checking payments for correctness and communicating discrepancies to supervisors.
Responds to queries from staff members and third parties.
Performs other duties as may be required.
Work implies frequent interaction with the following:
Finance, budget, and administrative officers and UN and UN agencies staff the Public at large.
Results Expected:
Under general guidance, processes work and related follow-up in an efficient and timely manner. Seeks advice from and/or reports to supervisor as applicable.
Education/Experience/Language requirements
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience:
A minimum of four years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or related areas is required.
Language:
Fluency in reading, spoken, and reading English is required.
Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
