Job Description
The Senior EHS Officer is responsible for the development and management of effective and professional occupational health services in alignment with company policies, practices, procedures, and relevant regulations. This role aims to achieve the organization’s health and safety goals and objectives. The officer will assist in all facets of health services staffing, competency, and operational processes. Additionally, the Senior EHS Officer will coordinate, support, and provide expert advice to the business on all matters related to health and safety.
Administer basic first aid for minor injuries and ensure timely medical response.
Conduct comprehensive physical examinations to identify preexisting medical conditions and assess workplace-related health issues.
Evaluate employee health, provide initial diagnoses for medical conditions, and maintain accurate health records.
Manage and assess non-occupational illnesses and injuries that may impact employee health and safety in the workplace.
Monitor workplace environments and equipment for potential hazards, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and recommend job modifications as necessary.
Educate employees on preventive measures against occupational hazards and promote safe working practices.
Advocate for healthy living and working conditions within the organization.
Provide counseling and emotional support to employees, fostering a supportive work environment.
Ensure compliance with current public health and employment safety regulations.
Oversee access to and utilization of healthcare services for employees.
Manage cases effectively to enhance productivity, ensuring appropriate care and facilitating return-to-work processes.
Collaborate with departments to identify, evaluate, and implement accommodations and return-to-work options for employees with restricted duties.
Uphold Occupational Health and Safety standards, consistently emphasizing that safety is the top priority. Adhere strictly to site safety protocols and operational procedures.
Maintain a safe workplace environment, minimizing health risks for all personnel.
Responsible for securing and developing all records, equipment, and programs related to occupational health services
Administer the company’s Drug-Free Workplace Program.
Assess healthcare needs, then implement and manage healthcare programs to improve health and facilitate return to work, maintain OSHA records/ reports and worker medical files
Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.
Keenly involve implementation and effectiveness of food safety management system (FSMS) in company (ISO 45001, ISO 22000, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001)
Education:
Active state nursing license as registered nurse. Bachelor’s degree and certification in occupational health nursing or case management preferred (ISO 45001 and other system related certificate essential).
Experience:
3-5-year relevant experience
Skill
Basic understanding of federal and state regulations applicable to occupational and environmental health and safety.
Excellent computer skills required (windows, explorer, outlook and Ms. Project).
Fluency in Amharic & an excellent command written & spoken English
Good personal hygiene.
