The Shift Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment in a soy oil cake factory. The role ensures that all electrical components are functioning efficiently and safely, minimizing production downtime and ensuring the continuous operation of the plant. The Shift Electrician works closely with mechanical technicians and other maintenance personnel to ensure overall equipment effectiveness.
1. Electrical Maintenance & Repair:
Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repair of all electrical systems, including motors, sensors, control panels, wiring, and lighting systems.
Diagnose electrical problems and repair or replace defective components as needed.
Ensure that all electrical work complies with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Basic knowledge of electrical equipments, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and other automated systems.
Be able to work independently in any of three shift (Morning/Evening/Night)
2. Preventive Maintenance:
Implement and follow a preventive maintenance schedule for all electrical systems and equipment to prevent unexpected breakdowns.
Conduct regular inspections of electrical components to identify signs of wear, corrosion, or other potential issues.
Keep detailed records of all maintenance activities and repairs performed.
3. Troubleshooting:
Respond quickly to electrical emergencies during the shift, diagnose issues, and perform repairs to minimize production interruptions.
Collaborate with mechanical teams to resolve complex problems that involve both electrical and mechanical systems.
Analyze recurring electrical issues and suggest improvements to prevent future problems.
4. Installation & Upgrades:
Assist in the installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment and systems, ensuring that they meet factory specifications and safety standards.
Upgrade existing electrical systems to improve efficiency and meet changing production needs.
Work with engineering teams to design and implement modifications to electrical systems.
5. Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while working with electrical systems, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensure that all electrical work is performed safely, and that any potential hazards are addressed immediately.
Participate in safety audits, training sessions, and emergency drills to stay updated on best practices and regulatory requirements.
6. Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all electrical maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, parts used, and hours worked.
Report on the status of electrical systems and any issues encountered during the shift to the incoming shift team and the maintenance manager.
Assist in maintaining an inventory of spare electrical parts and tools.
7. Continuous Improvement:
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, providing feedback on equipment performance and suggesting ways to improve electrical reliability and efficiency.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in electrical technology and recommend upgrades or improvements where appropriate.
Diploma or trade certification in Electrical, Industrial Electrical Maintenance, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry.
Prior experience of oil cake factory will be a plus.
Basic knowledge of electrical systems, including high-voltage and low-voltage systems, PLCs, VFDs, and automated control systems.
Proficient in the use of electrical testing and diagnostic tools.
Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
