Job Description
The Senior Export Manager will oversee and manage the entire export process from start to finish. This includes developing export strategies, managing export operations, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring timely delivery of goods to international clients. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in export management, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of international trade regulations and logistics.
Export Strategy Development:
Develop and implement effective export strategies to achieve company objectives and expand market presence.
Conduct market research to identify new export opportunities and potential markets.
Operations Management:
Oversee the entire export process, including order processing, documentation, and shipping.
Ensure efficient and timely delivery of goods to international clients.
Coordinate with production, logistics, and sales teams to meet export requirements.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all international trade regulations, including customs, export documentation, and trade agreements.
Stay updated on changes in trade regulations and adapt processes accordingly.
Extensive knowledge of Ethiopian export processes and familiarity with export-related institutions, primarily ECX, Ministry of Trade, Customs Commissions, and commercial banks' regulations.
Stakeholder Coordination:
Liaise with government bodies, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other stakeholders involved in the export process.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with international clients and partners.
Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate risks associated with export activities.
Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions in the export process.
Ability to forecast export seasons and convert plans into action.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor the export team, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.
Conduct performance reviews and provide training to enhance team capabilities.
Ability to present smart reports with analytical presentations.
Financial Management:
Prepare and manage the export budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Monitor and analyze export sales performance and profitability.
Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in export management, preferably in a senior role.
In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, export documentation, and logistics.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., ERP systems, MS Office).
Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
