Job Description
Purpose of the Job
Facilitate efficient transportation operations through strategic planning, coordination, and management of routes, carriers, and logistics to ensure timely delivery of goods.
Employ advanced algorithms and analytical tools to develop and refine transportation routes, minimizing costs and delivery times
Continuously assess and adjust routes based on real-time data, considering factors such as traffic patterns, weather conditions, and fuel efficiency.
Strategically coordinate delivery schedules to align with customer demands and optimize resource utilization.
Balance competing priorities to ensure timely deliveries while maximizing operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Forge strategic partnerships with carriers, negotiating contracts and service agreements to secure favorable rates and terms.
Implement performance evaluation frameworks to assess carrier reliability, service quality, and adherence to contractual obligations.
Ensure strict adherence to local and national transportation regulations, including safety standards, customs requirements, and environmental regulations.
Stay abreast of regulatory changes and proactively implement compliance measures to mitigate risks and ensure legal conformity.
Conduct comprehensive cost analyses to identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency improvement.
Implement innovative strategies such as route optimization, carrier consolidation, and modal shift to minimize transportation expenses while maintaining service levels.
Foster seamless communication channels with internal teams, external partners, suppliers, and carriers to facilitate coordination and resolve issues promptly.
Cultivate collaborative relationships to streamline processes, enhance transparency, and drive operational excellence.
Identify and mitigate potential risks and disruptions in the supply chain.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to logistics and transportation.
Implement and maintain safety protocols to protect employees, assets, and the environment.
Oversee daily transportation operations and coordinate weekly scheduling and route planning.
Generate monthly reports to analyze performance metrics and optimize logistics efficiency.
Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on data analysis to drive continuous improvement efforts.
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
7+ years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management, with a track record of driving results in a fast-paced environment.
Proven experience in transportation coordination or logistics management.
Strong understanding of transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in transportation management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Familiarity with ERP systems
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
