Job Description

Job Function:                                  

Responsible for all duties that are not directly related to instruction and student achievement including assisting the Head of School in managing school activities; supervising of administrative support personnel; ensuring administrative and finance efficiencies’, coordinating activities such as special events; transportation and building maintenance. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and evaluate all staff performance under his/her supervision mentioned above.

  2. Ensure annual plans are written, implemented and evaluated.

  3. Make a meaningful contribution to the school strategic plan.

  4. Manage all school scheduling, special events, field trips, cafeteria, transportation, maintenance, playgrounds and cleaning. 

  5. Manage community use of school site. 

  6. Responsible for school safety plan: disaster preparation, fire drills, student, staff and public safety, and student health.

  7. Maintain equipment, textbook and supply inventories.

  8. Coordinate with the Head of School to maintain a positive, safe learning environment for students by enforcing the school discipline plan. 

  9. Responsible for school public relations and communications plan: promote the school and district through positive relations with community, businesses, parents and students. 

  10. Maintain regular attendance. 

  11. Perform other duties as assigned. 

Additional Benefits

  1. Up to 2 free child places at the school once one year of service has been completed.

Salary 100,000 – 120,000 (ETB Gross per month depending on experience)

Reports to Head of School 

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  1. Practices, policies and procedures involved in the functional areas assigned. 

  2. Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.

  3. Excellent command of English (Oral and written)

  4. Research methods and report writing techniques. 

  5. Laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities. 

  6. District organizations, operations, policies, procedures and objectives. 

  7. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. 

  8. Health and safety regulations. 

  9. Principles and practices of administration, supervision and training. 

  10. Technical aspects of field of specialty. 

  11. Budget preparation and control. 

  12. Staff discipline policies, procedures, laws and regulations.

  • Plan, organize, coordinate and control large group events, classified meetings, and community and family engagement events. 

  • Communicate effectively to various audiences.

  • Prepare and deliver oral presentations. 

  • Work cooperatively with others. 

  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. 

  • Maintain records and prepare reports. 

  • Prioritize and schedule work.

  • Train, supervise and evaluate personnel. 

  • Maintain current knowledge of technological advances.

  • Analyse situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. 

  • Understand and work within the scope of authority. 

  • Meet schedules and timelines. 

  • Plan and organize work. 

  • Use computer, telephone and alarm system proficiently. 

  • Manage conflict. 

Job Requirement

Education and Experience:

Experience in public school or a business of similar size and complexity. 

Qualifications and Other Requirements:

Master's Degree required with course work in Business Administration, Organizational Management, or related discipline desired.
