JOB SUMMARY 

Under direct supervision of the Senior Finance Manager, the Senior Finance Officer, System Reporting is responsible for the day to day financial and procurement document review, bank and cash transactions journal review and data entry to the accounting software, monthly payroll review, payroll allocations. The position holder will be responsible for oversight of recording of financial information to the Accounting Software. She/he will be responsible for month-end and year end accounts reconciliation and book closures. She/he will assist during the internal and external audit preparation and process. 

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES

  • Ensures that IMC Ethiopia financial and operational activities are following Ethiopian (tax law, ACSO law, and government pension agency laws), Donor rules and regulations, and IMC policies and procedures. 

  • Oversee and manage daily program-wide accounting and finance functions including timely recording of transactions, cash management, banking, payroll, inventory, receivables, and payables. 

  • Review and handle data entry of the BTJs and CTJs prepared by finance officer and cashier and make sure the hard copy of the documents is in line with soft copy BTJs and CTJs.

  • Responsible for monthly payroll review and allocations.

  • Responsible for the vehicle rental document review for accrual and payment.

  • Review and account for procurement transactions submitted by the logistic team to ensure adequate supporting documentation, accuracy of amounts and control over payments.

  • Assist and participate in in preparation of reports both donor and government reports when assigned by supervisor. 

  • Ensure compliance with IMC financial policies and procedures.

  • Monitor the balance sheet accounts periodically.

  • Responsible for the review of monthly payroll for Addis and field offices.

  • Participate in the preparation/review of monthly report before shared to Split office.

  • Reviews payment request documentations for completeness and signs “checked by” on the payment voucher indicating that the check and voucher has been accurately prepared, the transaction is authorized by a budget-holder, the documentation is complete and accurate, there are sufficient funds in the grant, correctly coded and the cost is allowable.

  • Work hand in hand with the Finance managers and Finance Admin Director and other team to improve the quality of reports in IMC Ethiopia offices and their timeliness.

  • Assist in internal audit, external audit and donor specific audit assignments and response for their quires

  • Fulfill other duties, as assigned by your line manager.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance &accounting, Economics, or relevant field.

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience directly related to financial management or accountancy, preferably with an international organization (NGO) 

  • Active knowledge of English language writing and speaking

  • Proficiency in financial accounting software, like CostPoint, Sun System & MS Excel and MS Word as well as good grasp on Internet and email communication. 

  • Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines.
