Job Description
The Ethiopian Council of Gospel Believers' Churches is dedicated to spreading the Gospel and supporting the spiritual growth of believers across Ethiopia. Our mission is furthered through our full TV channel Evangelical TV, which provides inspiring and faith-based content to our audience. We are committed to delivering high-quality programs that uplifts and educates our viewers. We are seeking a seasoned and spiritually driven individual to join our team as the Head of Media and Public Relations Department.
Develop and implement comprehensive media and public relations strategies that align with the Council’s mission and objectives.
Oversee all media relations activities, including press releases, media inquiries, interviews, and the production of spiritual content for Evangelical TV.
Build and maintain robust relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers within the faith-based community.
Supervise the creation and dissemination of engaging and theologically sound content across various platforms, including press releases, social media, newsletters, and the Council’s website.
Act as the primary spokesperson for the Council, representing the organization in public forums and media interactions.
Monitor and analyze media coverage and public perception of the Council and Evangelical TV, providing regular reports and strategic recommendations to senior management.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding in all communications.
Manage crisis communications and develop proactive strategies to mitigate potential PR issues.
Lead and mentor a team of media and PR professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous development.
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in media relations or public relations, with at least 2-5 years in a leadership role, specifically in managing spiritual TV channels and studios.
Proven track record of developing and executing successful media and public relations strategies in a faith-based setting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Amharic and English.
Strong network of media contacts within the spiritual and faith-based community.
Experience in crisis communications and issue management.
Ability to think strategically and creatively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Proficiency in using digital communication tools and platforms.
