Job Summary

CRS Ethiopia’s SPO for Multimedia and Graphic Design will be responsible for creating visually appealing and engaging designs for our programs ’marketing materials and various platforms, including social media and websites. The Multimedia and Graphic Design SPO has a diverse array of technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to assist in support of the brand and our life saving work. Our perfect candidate is comfortable in both digital and print design, including video editing, can work directly with program teams and under the direction of the Program Manager for Communications. He/she should also be organized, and deadline oriented to ensure our program expectations are met. An ability to translate complex ideas into appealing communication collateral that adhere to CRS’ brand standards is key to this position.

Roles and Key Responsibilities 

  • Manage the design and the production of all marketing materials under the direction of the Program Manager for Communications and in conjunction with program teams, adhering to planned production schedules and approved estimated costs.

  • Create various marketing materials such as factsheets, booklets, flyers, etc., create social media content for platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and the CRS Ethiopia website, and edit and produce short videos.

  • Work with datasets to create visually appealing infographics and other data visualization products.

  • Customize the format and design of various documents (such as PPT presentations, strategies, technical reports, etc.) to align with CRS' branding guidelines.

  • Take photos and develop them into multimedia products, and review and update multimedia products for design and branding consistency.

  • Record and edit short videos using the CRS brand.

  • Coordinate with local creatives to produce above marketing materials like video documentaries.

  • Uphold design quality standards and maintain consistent branding across all materials.

  • Organize and manage digital asset files following CRS’ storage and archival guidelines.

  • Manage CRS’ photo and video libraries.

Basic Qualifications 

  • BA degree in Graphic Design or other graphics-related degree or equivalent on the job work experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in design, layout and basic data visualization production.

  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud software (InDesign, Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator), as well as Canva.

  • Able to develop 3D illustrations and animated stories is highly desired.

  • Working knowledge of web and social media design requirements and limitations.

  • Detailed-oriented, able to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills within a team environment.

  • Ability to accept and incorporate constructive criticism.

  • Strong listening skills and logical thinking abilities.

  • Openness to learning new tools and techniques.

  • Adaptability to evolving design trends and client requirements.

  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • Accountability and responsibility for the quality and timeliness of deliverables.

  • Understanding of / previous experience in the humanitarian and development sectors.

Essential Background: 

  • Proficiency in graphic design and basic video editing, specifically with design software like Adobe Creative Cloud suite and Canva.

  • GIF creation and animation is highly desired.

  • Additionally, knowledge of media production and communication, excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to collaborate effectively with others, and adaptability to change are essential.

 Required Language: English and Amharic (other local languages would be a plus).

Travel Required: 30% travel within Ethiopia.

External: Implementing Partners, local creatives/vendors.
