ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Communicate and align with the production manager and the creative directors to understand their requirements and receive a formal production brief for the project

• Leads a team of Production Designers, Costume Designers, Location and Cast Managers, Cinematographer, and other camera crews

• Holds meetings with key departments during the planning stages and throughout the filming

• Confirms the budget and schedule of the film with the production manager; works within budgetary constraints;

• Ensures and follow up that all individuals involved in the film production are working towards an identical vision for the completed film

• Keeps the artistic vision alive and checks in with every team to translate the creative vision to the screen

• Creates the director's treatment for the film and communicates it to the crew: Establish a visual language to translate a screenplay into a fully formed film

• Discuss the director's treatment with each key crew member before it is presented to the clients, checking the feasibility

• Casting/ auditioning and making casting choices together with the cast coordinator;

• Identifies set locations and takes recce with the set designer for blocking

• Prepare shooting lists and call sheets and share them with the production crew

• Guide/Direct the actors on set through scenes and motivate actors to produce their best dramatic performance

• Communicate with every crew and ensure every team is performing their tasks

• Review the editor’s cuts, break down the footage, and find the shots, angles, and takes that add the most meaning

• Check with post-production teams to ensure every post-production decision is in line with the overall vision until the final version is delivered to the client;

• Determines when the project is finished and gives final signoff

Job Requirements

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

• University Graduate

• Minimum 3 years of proven experience in directing short films

• Ability to maintain and share knowledge of industry trends and available acting talent

• Sound experience in managing budgets and good financial skills

• Team leadership skills

• Effective negotiation and presentation skills

• Ability to maintain high accuracy and thoroughness when executing tasks.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills capable of maintaining strong relationships

• Strong organizational multi-tasking and time management skills
