The Opportunity 

The position holder will be responsible to the key role of Nutrition officer and provide support to Reduce malnutrition and address the newly prioritized humanitarian needs through an Intersectoral approach with protection mainstreaming at Guba-Koricha Woreda in the Oromia Region and the implementation and monitoring of nutrition project activities at woreda and kebele level as per the agreed project documents and work plan based on national protocol in close collaboration with the target beneficiaries, community members and local government to implement the project according the agreed standards to address the priority problem of the poorest, marginalized community members.

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understand and put into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC).

  • Ensure that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.

  • Ensure that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.

Health and Nutrition Officers assess specific nutritional requirements of populations or individuals throughout their lives and translate this into advice which will maintain, reduce risk to, or restore people’s health. Using evidence-based approaches, they work to empower individuals, families and groups to provide or select food which is nutritionally adequate, safe, tasty and sustainable. Beyond healthcare, dietitians improve the nutritional environment for all through governments, industry, academia and research.

Job Requirements

  • Education: - BSC in Health, Nursing and other relevant fields of study

  • Experience: 3-5 years of relevant working experience

  • Work experience in Health Service Extension Program is an asset.

  • Ability and willingness to work in remote and challenging environments

  • Extremely flexible, able to work independently, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations.
