Job Description

To lead, design and implement engineering strategy and strategic operational goals to exceed customer expectations for quality, cost and delivery of projects, and drive engineering excellence

 Generic duties:

  • Plans, leads, organizes, staffs & controls department’s overall activities,

  • Designs and implements procedures, systems, and tools to maximize departmental operating efficiency,

  • Assesses risks by following industry trends to ensure profitability, company survival and provide solutions,

  • Coaches, mentors, and develops employees through periodic performance evaluations and ongoing performance dialogue and feedback,

  • Ensures adherence to company policies and procedures and undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises,

 Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for engineering construction activities across the business, 

  • Creates and implement best practice engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve business performance,

  • Evaluates the challenges faced by the projects and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities,

  • Takes ownership of the engineering policy, guidelines, and any associated documents,

  • Develop and manage project plans for all construction engineering projects,

  • Oversee project budgets and track expenses,

  • Manage construction project resources,

  • Ensures that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards,

  • Review planning and prioritize processes to ensure that multi-disciplinary resource is well aligned to maximize delivery of projects,

  • Ensures any new equipment or engineering activity is supported with appropriate qualification documentation and that this is appropriately stored,

  • Ensure up to date drawings are maintained appropriately,

  • In conjunction with the contract admin team ensure all external contracts are regularly reviewed to ensure best value,

  • Report on engineering activities on a regular basis to the director, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of the relevant Key Performance Indicators,

  • Ensures that Environmental, Health and Safety, engineering and quality standards and procedures are adhered in all sites,

  • Establish quality and reliability standards by studying industry benchmarks and the requirements of customers and research/design and development, and define the metrics required to assess performance against standards required,

  • Performs other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor

Qualification and Skills

  • BSc or MSc in Construction Management or Civil Engineering or related field of studies

Experience:

  • 10 years for BSc

  • 8 years for MSc.

Skills:

  • Communication skills,
