Brief Introduction

Brief Organizational Introduction and Project Overview: 

REACH Ethiopia is a nonprofit organization registered as an Ethiopian Residents Charity, dedicated to community development through innovative projects. Since 2013, it has implemented community-based TB care and integrated health service projects in Sidama, Central Ethiopia, South Ethiopia, Tigray, parts of Oromia and Afar Regions. Currently, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Regional Health Bureaus, REACH Ethiopia is implementing various projects including new project called USAID- Urban TB LON-II. 

The USAID URBAN TB LON II Project is an ambitious initiative aimed at addressing the urban tuberculosis (TB) challenge in Ethiopia. Focused on the city administrations of Addis Ababa, Shaggar, Harar, and Dire Dawa, the project's primary goals include identifying missed TB cases, delivering patient-centered care, and fostering innovative solutions to combat TB. This project is pivotal in enhancing TB detection and treatment, with an overarching aim to reduce TB prevalence and mortality in urban environments.

Position Summary:  As a Procurement Officer you will be responsible in researching new suppliers, ensuring that all purchased products and materials meet our specifications, and negotiating with vendors as needed.

Ultimately, you will work with leaders in our organization to understand the needs of our organization and ensure we achieve our supply goals in a timely manner. 

Contract Term: Full time Position, Fixed Term Contract

Responsibilities

  • Prepare proposals, request quotes and negotiate purchase terms and conditions

  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and agreements

  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues and concerns

  • Inspect and evaluate the quality of purchased items and resolve shortcomings

  • Analyze industry and demand trends and support senior management with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies

  • Create and maintain good relationships with vendors/suppliers

  • Make professional decisions in a fast-paced environment

  • Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and other important data

  • Review and analyze all vendors/suppliers, supply, and price options

  • Develop plans for purchasing equipment, services, and supplies

  • Ensure that the products and supplies are high quality

  • Work with team members and procurement committee  to complete duties as needed

Reports to: USAID URBAN TB LON II Logistics manager

Job Requirements

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven work experience as a Procurement Specialist or similar role

  • Good working knowledge of purchasing strategies

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and with business application software, purchasing and resource planning systems

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management or a similar field preferred
