Job Description
British Council is implementing the Enabling University Peace Education in Regional Conflict/Post-conflict Settings (EUPE) Project – an ambitious and innovative peace education programme in Sudan and Ethiopia. We are seeking a Project Officer to support the project delivery in Ethiopia to be part of the country delivery team.
Programme Delivery:
Support the administrative and financial as well as procurement delivery as per British Council policy and client requirements.
Support the achievement of all agreed outputs as required by the line manager.
Relationship Management / Business Development:
Contribute to building long-term partnerships for the British Council.
Build and maintain professional relationships with coalition partners and other key players;
Resources and People Management:
Support the management of financial resources to implement project activity accurately allocated, forecasted, monitored and reported
Ensure that relevant business processes (procurement, sales, travel and expenses, etc.) are carried out in line with corporate standards using SAP where appropriate;
Ensure that procurement is managed to the highest standards suppliers selected and managed to maximum value for money
Risk Management:
To identify, assess, report and monitor progress in addressing risks to the achievement of project objectives.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Support the delivery of the monitoring and evaluation plan for Ethiopia, using the programme’s monitoring and evaluation framework;
Marketing and Communications:
Liaise with the communication team, responsible for the effective communication and dissemination of the programme;
Role-specific knowledge and experience: Essential requirements:
University Degree in project management, business or social studies including in development or Social Studies.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work effectively with tight deadlines
Desirable:
Project Management for Development (PMD)
Financial Management for Development (FMD) equivalent
Management of Risk (MoR)

Pay Band – 4
Remuneration: ETB 38,924 Gross Per Month
Contract Type – 3 Month Fixed Term Contract

Language requirements: English language (IELTS 6 or above equivalent).
Fluency in Amharic
The Role holder must have existing rights to live and work in the country the role is based.
