Job Summary

The major responsibilities of Researcher II are to assist the Senior and Lead Researchers to collect, document, and analyse technical and statistical data on the Ethiopian Economy; prepare research reports on research activities of the EEA; offer trainings and technical assistance to stakeholders of the EEA;prepare grant and funding proposals; present research outputs in workshops, conferences, andother events: andengage in other activities related to research, training, and dissemination of research outputs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific duties: 

  • Prepares techcnial and financial proposals and ToRs of research and training activities.

  • Conducts research on selected thematic areas of the EEA.

  • Prepares grant proposals to mobilize financial and non-financial resources.

  • Offers trainingsand technical assistance to stakeholders in his/her area of specialization.

  • Collectsprimary and secondary data to enhance the economic database of the Association.

  • Organize, manage, and analyze huge economic and statistical data and prepare research reports;

  • Reviews theoretical and empirical literature and analyzes data to prepare research reports.

  • Supervises and evaluates research projects undertaken by the EEA.

  • Prepares policy and research briefs on outputs of research, training, and policy forums.

  • Prepares progress reports on the major activities of the EEA under his/her scope.

  • Engages in the dissemination of research outputs and other information generated by the EEA.

  • Performs other duties as required and as assigned by his/her immediate supervisor.

Job Requirement

Qualifications:Minimum of MA/MSc degree in economics and related fields.

Experience: Five to seven years of relevant work experience with

  • Demonstrated research experience in development economics and related areas of research.

  • Demonstrated experience in the management and analysis of huge data using standard econometric and statistical software packages including Stata, Python, and DASP; and

  • At least two publications of scientific papers in reputable journals, books, or other publications.

Personal Competencies

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Amharic.

  • Good writing skills

  • High ethical and behavioral competence.
