Job Description

ORDA-Ethiopia is non-governmental organization dedicated to improve livelihood and environmental security in Amhara region as well as in Ethiopia since 1984. It envisaged bringing the above changes by working with various Non-governmental, governmental, bilateral and private organizations. Besides to its humanitarian and developmental engagement, ORDA-Ethiopia has also establishing and managing income generating companies with the intension to support its development and humanitarian activities through generating reasonable additional finance (income). 

Accordingly, ORDA-Ethiopia has established Bahir Dar Automotive Engineering PLC as a major shareholder with the intention of contributing its effort in the automotive sector and also generating income to support its development and humanitarian activities. The company aims to engage in various automotive sectors such as vehicle maintenance and repair service, spare-parts supply and sale, Vehicle inspection and most importantly to grow in to manufacturing of vehicle bodies and parts through time. ORDA ETHIOPIA would like to invite competent candidates who fulfil the requirements of the vacancy.

General information 

  • Program/section:         Deputy Executive Director(Enterprise Development)

  • Reports to:              Shareholders Council; and ORDA-Ethiopia’s Deputy Executive Director  for                Enterprise

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Ensure the creation and implementation of an overall strategy designed to grow the business (most importantly sales, profitability and market share)

  • Direct the business Financial performance and reporting including revenues, costs and budgets and procurement.

  • Oversee operations in an auto service unit to ensure compliance with quality standards.

  • Create networks with potential stakeholders for the growth and sustainability of the business.

  • Support the human resource team to hire and train new employees as well as handle disciplinary issues.

  • Seek for opportunities to access sustainable and viable markets for the company products and services.

  • Address customer complaints and issues, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Negotiate with manufacturers and suppliers to secure advantageous terms and ensure inventory meets demand.

  • Monitor compliance with automotive regulations and safety standards to ensure legal and ethical practices.

  • Mentor and coach functional departments thereby developing them in to future roles within the business.

  • Ensure high levels of staff welfare while maintaining a high standard of measuring staff performance.

  • Establish efficient logistics and resource management system to ensure profitability and sustainability.

  • Prepare business performance reports for presentation to the company’s board of directors.

  • Understanding and comply with tax and other regulations of the country.

  • Develop strategic, operational and financial plan of the company

  • Perform any other duties as required by immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements

Qualification/Education

  •  MA/MBA/MSC/BA/BSC in Business Management, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Management, Economics, Automotive Technology, Automotive Business Management, Auto Mechanic and related fields.

Work experience:

  • 6 years for MA/MBA/MSC and  8 for Years BA/BSC of relevant experience for and at least 3 years’ Managerial experience in profit making automotive business/industry  

Skill/knowledge and Competencies

  • Excellent in Financial Analysis, Market trend analysis, Inventory management and Customer relationship management

  • Strong personal value including integrity, honesty, and excellence 

  • Excellent in Written and Spoken of Amharic and English languages

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Packages
