Key Responsibilities:

Do you have experience of facilitating good charity governance, ideally within an international charity?

We are looking for an individual who can serve as a high-level support to our Board, ensuring all governance matters are handled effectively, providing project management and administrative coordination for the Board to ensure WVUK has an effective governance framework.  You will also be tasked with finding new ways to engage and steward our trustees as key, valued supporters of World Vision UK throughout the year.

The successful candidate must be proactive and have initiative.  They must also have sufficient existing governance experience to guide them in making appropriate judgements.

The role will work closely with the Chief Executive and the CEO Office, ensuring the CEO is kept abreast of all board related matters.

The ideal candidate would be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of providing executive support to senior posts

  • Experience of administering Board meetings and producing high quality minutes

  • Experience of ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements

  • An interest in and basic understanding of charity governance and a willingness to commit to ongoing learning in the area of governance

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • A sense of self-drive, self-awareness, insight and personal motivation

  • Strong organisational and project management capabilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • To work closely with the Chief Executive and CEO Office, ensuring the Chief Executive is kept abreast of all board related matters and all responses are timely and of excellent quality, demonstrating expertise and knowledge of the wider organisation and ensuring consistency and alignment between Board and Strategic Leadership Team priorities

  • To co-ordinate and schedule the running of Board committees and support secretaries of the Board committees and ensure they understand and are inducted and supported in their role.

  • To organise and manage, in consultation with the relevant senior stakeholders, the Board’s annual programme of meetings and its committees.

  • To attend and act as secretary to Board meetings and the annual Board Retreat, taking minutes, ensuring decisions and actions are followed up with relevant stakeholders.

  • To ensure effective governance of the Board and ensure the Board fulfils its legal and regulatory obligations and follows best governance practice by providing high-level support and advice to the Board and Chair on their governance responsibilities.

  • To maintain and develop the Board’s Policy Manual

  • To support the Board Development Committee in trustee succession planning, recruitment and appointment and maintain appropriate Board schedules and records.

  • To write papers for the Board Development Committee

  • To engage with external agencies, regulatory bodies and sector peers to ensure WVUK keeps up to date on and influences corporate and governance matters, best practice and trends.

What we're offerin

Salary:                 £35,137 - £36,986 per annum (FTE £42,750 - £45,000)

Contract:             Permanent, part-time at 30 hours per week

Based:                 Milton Keynes/Hybrid (UK Based applicants only)
