Job Description

Job Purpose:
The main objective of the MHNT Nurse is to improve access to - and utilization of - basic child and women friendly health and nutrition services to prevent avoidable morbidities and mortalities and alert, prevent and control disease outbreaks. He/she will have responsibility for the provision of appropriate treatment for all patients in compliance with rational use of drugs and national standard treatment protocols.
Technical Support and Facilitation
Provision of appropriate treatment for all patients in compliance with rational use of drugs and national standard treatment protocols
Manage all sick children under the IMNCI protocol. Other services under the child health package are Immunization, Vitamin A supplementation and De-worming
Screening of all under 5 children (under children health package), pregnant women and lactating women (under maternal health and other acute & life threatening illnesses package) and essential nutrition actions (ENAs)
Manage children with acute malnutrition in accordance to the national guideline for management of acute malnutrition
Support and follow-up BCC activities
Ensure proper referral of all emergency cases beyond the team capacity to the nearest referral health centre &/or Hospital
Assists the transportation of supplies to health facilities along the way to its operational site
Participate in the selection, functionalization and strengthening of operational sites including a health post
Support package for health posts includes including service delivery, HEWs capacity development in recording and reporting, active case searching and sensitization, supply and cold chain management and model household training.
Conduct regular visits at health posts to provide on-the-job support
Regularly monitor supported health posts
Support the reporting of health activities from the health facilities and pass it to the woreda health office
Implementing health and nutrition activities of high quality
Alerting the immediate supervisor on all issues that have an important impact or no identified solution or need support to be solved
Timely and adequately reporting on health and nutrition program
Good working relations between AAH, government health staff and other partners
Planning, Reporting and Accountability
Prepare monthly progress reports and any other required documentation for submission to the Project Manager
Ensure and support the Woreda Health Office (WoHO) staff in reporting, recording and supply management of OTP and SC program
Ensure weekly and monthly reports are submitted to the project manager using appropriate format (narrative and statistics with database)
Report any problems in a timely manner to the Health officer
Ensure that program participants and stakeholders have clear information about the program activities as appropriate and relevant to them.
At all times, adhere to policies and guidelines of Concern.
Support on cascading induction on mainstreaming gender, protection, accountability, HIV/AIDS, and equality to other project staff

Ensure proper documentation of good practices, success stories, challenges for learning and sharing
Follow clearly appropriate protocols and guidelines - National.
Write notes clearly and neatly on health card or admission chart
Document clearly the admission and discharge diagnosis for each patient according to national statistical definitions to enable good analysis by the mobile team
Write prescriptions clearly and neatly on health card or prescription chart
Properly fill multi-chart and tally sheet at the end of each day
Ensure any investigations carried out are clearly marked on the health card or admission chart
Participate in the weekly/ monthly data compilation and reporting of Mobile activities
Prepare both weekly and monthly reports regarding your activities, identified, problems and proposed solutions for your immediate supervisor and program manager (if he/she needs it)
Ensure timely request of drugs, supplies and other program items.
Additional Duties
Perform other duties assigned by the line manager for the accomplishment of programme objectives.

Accountability

work with relevant colleagues to ensure that the Complaints and Response Mechanism (CRM) is functional and accessible, that feedback and complaints are welcomed and addressed; work with relevant colleagues to ensure that information about CRM, safeguarding and expected staff behaviour is disseminated among programme participants and communities.
Safeguarding
Ensure the maximum protection of programme participants from exploitation by working on the adherence of CONCERN Code of Conduct (CCoC) with three Associated Policies; the Programme Participant Protection Policy (P4), the Child Safeguarding Policy and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Policy.
Ensure program participant Protections by adhering standards of the safeguarding policy when program participants be in contact with CONCERN during different trainings, meetings, workshops and contractual works.
Assess the safety and security of different meeting, workshop and training venues in collaboration with project HR unit
Provide technical support &Advise to Project Manager Follow up & Monitor Strategic Implementation of Concern Safeguarding Issues collaborating with Gender & Safeguarding team in Concern.

Person specification:
BSc Degree in Public Health/Nursing with minimum of three years of relevant work experience for degree holders or Diploma in clinical nursing five years relevant experience.
Profound experience in CMAM, particularly SAM management
Computer literate
NGO experience in emergency projects is an advantage
Good communication and report writing skills
Good negotiation skill with government and other agencies
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English.
Good interpersonal skills and team player with sensitivity to cultural diversity
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to understand and respect the cultural, religious and political environment and to work well with staff and local authorities in a diplomatic
Experience in providing training and capacity building for staff
Proficiency in Somali Language is Mandatory
