JOB SUMMARY

The primary role of the IMC co-chair is to directly support the convening of the technical working group, co-facilitation of meetings, support the organizing of relevant workshops for MHPSS TWG members, and actively guide the relationship building between relevant government ministries, international and national actors, in collaboration with EPHI and WHO as co-chair. The co-chair will support the operation of the national technical working group, facilitate communications, and meetings; organize and/or facilitate relevant workshops for participating members based on their needs, and build knowledge and capacity on the use of relevant evidence-based practices and international guidelines. In addition will also be responsible for ensuring that the NGO membership is contributing to and sharing National MHPSS TWG responsibilities and will play a lead role in developing the active engagement and technical capacity of Ethiopia NGO members of the working group.

The co-chair will also provide technical and practical support to the IMC co-leads of the regional working groups, in capacity building, the outreach of partners, and strengthening the regional work plans.

The accountabilities of the position set out below are aligned to the core functions of cluster delivery at the country level (i) Supporting Service Delivery (ii) Informing Strategic decision-making making (iii) Planning and Strategy development (iv) Advocacy (v) Monitoring and Reporting (vi) Contingency Planning and Preparedness.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES

o   Support the operation of the National Technical Working Group, in collaboration with EPHI and WHO as co-chair.

o   Facilitate communications and meetings. 

o   Organize and/or facilitate relevant workshops for participating members based on their needs,

o   Contribute to the design of and deliver capacity-building actions such as training of trainers, specialized training, and awareness-raising initiatives for members of the TWG, other coordination groups and clusters as well as the Government, using relevant evidence-based practices and international guidelines.

o   Actively build relationships between relevant government ministries international and national actors.

o   Provide technical and practical support to the IMC co-leads of the regional working groups, in capacity building, the outreach of partners, and strengthening the regional work plans.

o   Assist with formulating coordination tools, strategies, advocacy messages, and working plans for the National Technical Working Group.

o   Support in automating and updating the 4W mapping for MHPSS activities in Ethiopia through relevant clusters and other mechanisms.

o   Contribute to the development of MHPSS tools for Ethiopia. The focus will be on mapping, assessment, monitoring, and evaluation tools to be used by national-level actors.

o   Contribute to the joint MHPSS analysis of National TWG information and data, leading to joint identification of gaps in the service delivery and agreement on priorities to inform the development (or adaptation) of relevant plans and strategies.

o   Ensure that NGO members of the National TWG are kept fully informed of the meetings and decisions that take place outside of regular National TWG meetings, especially with external stakeholders.  

Additional Tasks:

o   Implement other MHPSS related activities as per direction from immediate supervisor at Addis Ababa IMC office.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

o   The qualified candidate will have a master’s degree in Psychiatry/Psychology/Social work/other related mental health background.  

o   5+ years’ experience working on MHPSS programs, preferably in humanitarian settings.

o   Strong experience in coordinating working groups and strategy development.

o   Strong organizational and supervisory, and interpersonal skills.

o   Demonstrated ability to work on coordination with other sectors, particularly health, protection, and education.

o   Excellent presentation and communication skills. 

o   Demonstrated competencies in creating an empowering and motivating environment, ensuring the effective use of resources and respecting and promoting individual and cultural differences.

o   Promotes and ensures technical oversight and guidance to the sector, identifying training needs and facilitating capacity-building efforts.

o   Ability to work in difficult emergency environment under very basic living conditions.

o   Ability to work within a team structure or in isolation, flexible, and can cope with stressful workloads and working with limited resources.

o   Training and supervision experience required, particularly with experience in WHO’s mhGAP-HIG, PM+, IPT-G etc.

o   Proficiency in Microsoft Office. 

o   A good command of verbal and written English.

o   Ability to travel to the different intervention areas.
