Job Description

NRM project officer will facilitate the implementation of sustainable landscape restoration by coordinating capacity building trainings, stakeholders learning and reflection workshops, field exchange visits  on FMNR and other land restoration practices. Project Officer will ensure communal degraded land identification, delineation and the implementation of restoration actions through FMNR and agroforestry practices as well as promote use of energy efficient cooking  system to empower women’s and off-setting carbon from the atmosphere. He/she also facilitate community livelihood support via green livelihood options provision, promote saving group formation and build strong partnership with local partners for collaborative landscape restoration actions. In addition, the project officer will execute regular monitoring to track project progresses, generate new evidences on the effectiveness of land restoration and livelihood intervention options, and finally communicate stakeholders through regular reporting.

  • Lead the overall progress of landscape restoration project implementing planned activities, monitoring implementation progress, managing the project risks, capturing lessons learned, etc.

  • Facilitating and coordinating  capacity building training , stakeholders learning and reflection workshop, and FMNR and livelihood field exchange visits,

  • Promote local livelihood improvement via green livelihood input support and endorse saving group formation in order to improve household income and diversify livelihood options so at to enhance the local economy.

  • Establishing and maintaining effective partnership and working relationships with local level partners and stakeholders

  • Prepare quality and timely regular reports and submit the same to AP, concerned Hub office , GO and the project coordinator at  HO. ,

  • Lead dissemination of learning and advocacy materials, FMNR training manuals, guides and other tools for landscape restoration technical practices through technical platforms and capacity building events.

Job Requirements

Qualification required MSc/BSc in Natural resource management, Forestry, Environment, Rural development and related fields.

Experience: 5 years’ experience on field level implementation of Landscape Restoration, Agroforestry, FMNR, and climate change, forest inventory, resilient rural livelihood in INGOs Context. Working experience in community led natural resource management and exposure to evergreen agriculture, climate smart agriculture and degraded land management.

Additional working experience on promotion and advocacy related activities.  

Work environment:  Office-based with frequent travel to the field.

  • Travel:  60% Domestic.

On call and email: 40%

  • Computer literate (Operate MS Word and MS Excel)

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Good reporting skill

Language, fluent in English language writing and reading skill

  • Speaking and Listening skills of communities’ languages is more preferable.
