The Ethiopian Women Lawyers’ Association (EWLA) invites competent and qualified candidates to apply for the vacant post of different positions of which the detail requirements are mentioned here below.
Brief Highlight of EWLA: Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association has been established at the federal level in 1995 by Women lawyers and re-registered as Local Organization in accordance with the Civil Society Organization. It has been working for more than 25 years to promote women's social, economic, political and legal rights to help women exercise their constitutional and other rights.
The aim of the association is to promote equal participation of women in all sectors and to prevent sexual violence against women and create a safe environment for women through its three programs: Legal Research and Advocacy, Public Education and Capacity Building, and Free Legal Aid service.
The association is head quartered in Addis Ababa and has opened its regional offices in seven regions and one city administration namely Adama, Hawassa, Bahir Dar, Gambella, Asosa, Jigjiiga, Semera regions and city administration of Dire Dawa. In order to make the service accessible to all, the association is working to continue its service in the zones and woredas under its regional and city administration branches and has so far established 55 volunteer committee centers across the country. Besides, it has established a hotline service (7711) which operates in 3 local languages: Amharic, Afan Oromo and Tigrigna
Under the direct supervision of the Lead Project Coordinator, the Media and External Relations Officer will coordinate the various activities related to media, publication, public relation and external relations related tasks or activities of the project. S/He is responsible to facilitate the trainings for the Journalists, Editors and Media personnel as it is one of the major activities of the project. S/he is responsible to facilitate the different publications under the project; S/he is responsible to administer the social media used to promote the project activities (Facebook page, Telegram and website); S/he is responsible to facilitate the external relations that will be made with other organizations and donors under this project; S/he is expected to report to the Lead PC of the project.
The Media and External Relations Officer will have the following duties and responsibilities:
· Develop and implement Media and External Relations strategies
· Write and edit in-house written materials (such as; articles, case stories, speeches, Press Releases, Bi-annual and Annual reports)
· Prepare and supervise the production of publicity brochures, leaflets, promotional materials (Posters, Stickers, Banners, signing boards and billboards)
· Monitor media related activities under implementing projects
· Build strong Internal and External communication, relationships and networks with head office and regional branch offices colleagues, Members, Volunteers, Partners, Stockholders, Media and Publics
· Collaborate with internal teams (Such as; program and management team) and participate on project proposals development and resource mobilization
· Organize events (such as; Press Conferences, GA meetings, Campagnas, exhibitions, demonstrations. etc)
· Collate and analyses media coverages
· Capture Photo and Video files
· Manage and update information on the Association’s Website and Social media platforms
· Prepare and submit Media and External Relations reports
· Manage the Media and External Relations aspect of a potential crisis situation
Reporting Relationship:
The MEAL officer is accountable to the Lead Project Coordinator and shall report to her.

Duration: One-year contract with possibility of Extension

Required criteria (Qualifications/Experiences/Skills):
Professional with BA/MA Degree in Media and External Relations, Journalism and Communication, English and creative writing and related field (social science)
Minimum 2 years of experience for MA and Minimum 4 years of experience for BA
Work experience in Media and External Relations officer at CSOs and International organizations is a plus
Work experience in Media and External Relations officer at EU project is a plus
Excellent communication skills of Amharic and English both orally and writing
Excellent interpersonal skills (for Internal and External communication needs)
Good IT skills and understanding of Graphic design (such as Illustration and Photoshop)
Must demonstrate strong interest, passion and commitment to work with women rights organization, handle multiple tasks and ability to work under pressure
Strong interpersonal communication, teamwork, partnering, and consensus-building skills
Academic Qualification
Bachelor or Master's Degree in Law or relevant field of studies
