Duties & Responsibilities:

• Patient Consultation: GPs meet patients to assess their health concerns, conduct physical examinations, take medical histories, and diagnose illnesses.

• Treatment Planning: They create and implement treatment plans, which might involve prescribing medications, recommending therapies, or referring patients to specialists for further evaluation.

• Preventive Care: GPs emphasize preventive care, offering advice on healthy lifestyle choices, conducting routine screenings, and administering vaccinations.

• Chronic Disease Management: Managing ongoing health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, etc., forms a significant part of their responsibilities. They monitor patients’ progress and adjust treatments accordingly.

• Emergency Care: GPs handle urgent cases in the hospital, stabilizing patients before they’re transferred to specialized departments if needed.

• Collaboration: They work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as nurses, specialists, pharmacists, and allied health professionals, to ensure comprehensive patient care.

• Documentation: Maintaining accurate medical records and documenting patient information, including diagnoses, treatments, and progress notes, is essential.
