The Hospital Porter plays a crucial role in supporting the smooth operation of our healthcare facility by providing assistance with the movement of patients, transportation of equipment, and maintaining a safe and organized environment. Duties & Responsibilities:

Patient Transport:

• Safely transport patients to and from various hospital areas, including patient rooms, diagnostic departments, and treatment areas.

• Assist with the transfer of patients between beds and stretchers.

Medical Equipment Handling:

• Transport medical equipment, supplies, and specimens to various departments within the hospital.

• Ensure proper handling and secure transportation of sensitive medical instruments.

Support for Clinical Staff:

• Provide assistance to clinical staff during procedures, examinations, and patient transfers.

• Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to meet patient needs.

Maintaining Order and Cleanliness:

• Keep hospital hallways, waiting areas, and transport vehicles clean and organized.

• Assist in maintaining infection control standards by following proper sanitation procedures.

Linen and Waste Management:

• Collect and transport dirty linen and waste to designated disposal areas.

• Ensure that linen carts are stocked and organized.

Communication:

• Maintain effective communication with nursing and support staff to prioritize tasks and respond to requests promptly.

• Report any issues or concerns related to equipment, facilities, or patient needs.

Emergency Response:

• Assist in emergency situations, such as patient evacuations or the transport of critically ill patients.

• Follow established protocols for emergency response and patient transport.

Job Requirements

• Previous experience as a hospital porter or in a similar role is an asset.

• Familiarity with hospital layout and departments is preferred.

Interpersonal Skills:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff.

Physical Fitness:

• Ability to lift and move patients safely and comfortably.

• Stamina to handle the physical demands of the role.

Team Collaboration:

• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse healthcare team.

• Willingness to assist in various hospital departments as needed.
