Job Description
The Junior System Analyst is an entry-level position responsible for assisting in the analysis, design, documentation and implementation of information systems and business processes within the organization. This role will work closely with the senior functional consultant and various stakeholders to ensure that IT projects align with business needs and objectives, effectively contributing to the organization's success.
1. Requirements Gathering and Documentation:
- Collaborate with business users and stakeholders to elicit, document, and analyze detailed business requirements for IT projects.
- Utilize interviews, surveys, and workshops to effectively gather and document requirements.
- Prepare comprehensive business requirements documents (BRDs) and use cases that clearly define project scope and objectives.
2. Process Analysis and Optimization:
- Analyze current business processes, identifying areas for improvement and automation.
- Work closely with stakeholders to define optimized and efficient processes that align with organizational goals.
- Document process workflows and create process flowcharts to facilitate understanding and analysis.
3. Data Analysis and Management:
- Assist in data analysis activities, including data profiling, data mapping, and data modeling, to support database design and data migration efforts.
- Collaborate with programmers to ensure that data structures align with project requirements and organizational standards.
4. Quality Assurance and Testing:
- Participate in testing activities, including the creation of test cases, test execution, and defect tracking.
- Collaborate with the programmers to ensure that systems meet business requirements and functional specifications.
- Help in identifying and resolving system defects and issues.
5. Communication and Collaboration:
- Effectively communicate with programmers, senior functional consultant, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure a shared understanding of project goals, progress, and issues.
- Act as a bridge between business users and MIS teams, facilitating clear communication and collaboration.
6. Training and Support:
- Provide training and support to end-users during system implementations and updates.
- Create user manuals, documentation, and training materials as needed to ensure the effective use of systems and applications.
7. Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and analyze issues and challenges in existing systems or processes
- Propose solutions, enhancements, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
· Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
· Strong understanding of software development methodologies, such as Agile and Waterfall
· Familiarity with software development tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Git.
· Experience with software design, development, and testing
· Experience with software development tools and technologies, such as Java, C#, Python, and SQL
· Ability to work independently or in a team environment
· Willingness to work on extra assignments or tasks whenever it is necessary
· Willingness to travel to different sites when necessary
Experience:
- This is an entry-level position; prior internship or coursework in business analysis or a related field is a plus.
- Familiarity with business analysis tools and methodologies (e.g., UML, BPMN, Agile, Scrum) is advantageous.
- Experience with software applications or tools commonly used in business analysis (e.g., Microsoft Visio, Excel, Jira) is a plus
