Currently, providing assistance in ten different regions implementing emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery and development (ERD), women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sectoral emergency response.
Job Overview/Summary:
The Mobile Health and Nutrition Team (MHNT) Nurse Officers are responsible for overseeing nutrition screening and case management for SAM and linking MAM with supplementary feeding programs. MHNT IMCI activities and the EPI services including providing immunization. The position holder will provide counseling on IYCF-E packages including advice for breastfeeding. Provide HIV/AIDs counseling, behavior communication, and referral of VCT and clinical care. The post holder will be supporting the MHNT team leader in collaborating closely with the woreda health office to enhance their participation and involvement in prevention, awareness creation, and capacity building of woreda-based government health staff (HWs & HEWs) and will provide ongoing technical support for gov’t health care providers (HWs and HEWs). This position will be based at Menz Gera Woreda, Mehal Meda Town and will directly report to the MHNT team leader; will also be technically supported by the Senior Health and Nutrition Managers and Health and Nutrition Coordinator based in Addis.
· Provide health education at IRC's MHNT-supported health facilities.
· Provide proper nutrition screening and emergency nutrition services (OTP, TSFP, and linking cases for SC) based on national protocols,
· Keep record and registration of health consultation, and nutrition program beneficiaries,
· Prepare, compile, and timely submission of child health and nutrition services reports,
· Manage child health and nutrition products/drugs stock, follow up on the stock level, utilization, and balance, and advise early shortage to MHNT team leader,
· Conduct demonstration of Super Cereal Plus and other nutrition products preparation for new mothers to ensure appropriate utilization,
· Capacitate and assist HEWs in providing child health and nutrition services provision,
· Compile and submit stock consumption reports.
· Consistently and proactively assess the safety and security of the team; promptly report concerns or incidents to IRC management and liaise with community leaders and other external parties to maintain/enhance the security environment for IRC programs.
· Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the Team leader, and Addis H&N technical units.
· Develop donor reports in collaboration with the senior health officers, health Officers, RH Clinical mentor, field coordinator, and Addis’s health technical units.
· Provide technical support to health workers, and health extension workers, based at health facilities.
· Participate in the design and delivery of robust M&E plans and design/adapt health information systems including surveillance systems for the IRC HN programs,
· Ensure that the stated goals and objectives of the projects are met.
· Provide weekly/ monthly progress and quarterly reports to the concerned and work closely with the MEAL Officer and Technical units.
· Work with MHNT Team leader, Midwife Nurse, Sr. health & nutrition coordinator, Health and nutrition coordinator, Assistant health and nutrition coordinator, Sr. Health and Nutrition managers, Admin, Finance, and supply chain based in Addis.
· Work with Woreda Health Offices, HEWs, and/ or CVs and health staff of the two health facilities.
Requirements:

Educational Requirements:
· MPH/MSC, BSc and Diploma in public health/Nurse/Midwifery
Preferred experience & skills:
· Minimum work experience of 2 years for MPH/MSc, Three years for BSc Degree, and six years for diploma holders.
· Basic supervisory/managerial skills with strong interpersonal skills.
· NGO experience in emergency health response project activities is preferable.
· Proven experience in working with communities in participatory approaches and capacity building of health centers.
· Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the implementation of emergency health response projects.
· Good technical and report writing skills with digital literacy of computer and knowledge.
· Excellent verbal and written communication.
· Self-motivated, open, highly responsible, and punctual, with an ability to constructively address gaps and weaknesses.
· Ability to work under pressure in remote areas and understanding of the cultural context of the local area.
Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and Amharic
