Job Description

The position of Media Planner consists of planning, directing, or coordinating media activities with the help of subordinate executives and staff.

Tasks

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensure that they are communicated and implemented within the team.

  • Reporting to the General Manager, the Media Manager will manage the media accounts, and serve as the primary point of agency contact for media vendors

  • Identify media related opportunities through evolving issues.

  • Develop content for dissemination via press releases, social media, websites and other distribution channels.

  • Ensure that key messages align with vital business strategies.

  • Serve as the organization’s media liaison and formal spokesperson.

  • Conduct press conferences and briefings.

  • Scan media marketplace to keep up-to-date on the latest media trends.

  • Monitor online and offline campaigns, and report on results.

  • Negotiate with media channels to close competitive deals.

  • Build strategies and media plan that aligns with client’s request.

  • Build long-term relationships with media influencers.

  • Appropriately manage the organization’s media budget.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and requirements 

  • Experience working in the advertising industry is a requirement.

  • College/University Degree in a related field preferred 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in advertising with supervisory responsibilities. 

  • Energy, enthusiasm and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and demanding targets.

  • High level of analytical and organizational skills, and excellent attention to detail.

  • Creativity, initiative combined with commercial awareness.

  • Real understanding of print and web advertising opportunities.

  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills and ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organisation in a participatory way. 

  • Understanding of and commitment to capacity development and skills transfer activities. 

  • Demonstrated experience and capacity to provide colleagues with supportive advice and strengthening through mentoring and modelling. 

  • Must be able to pass a background check to include a 7-year criminal & employer history reference check 

  • Self-educator and motivator 

  • Must have skills in research and development of operating policies and procedures.
