Job Description
Ripple Effect (RE) is registered and licensed Foreign Charity. RE Ethiopia was established in March 2006 and works to see a rural Ethiopia that is confident, thriving, and sustainable, with a growing economy and higher living standards for all. RE focuses on three thematic areas; Farm Systems, Gender and Social Inclusion and Enterprise Development to help to combat poverty and works to create a rejuvenated and abundant African environment for both current and future generations. We are recruiting a Water Resource Development officer for Ripple Effect (RE) projects planned to be implemented in Dawro Zone.
For this vacant position we will consider applicants who have A degree in a relevant field, especially in water resources engineering, management, environmental science, public health, sanitation, hygiene or related subjects, master’s degree is preferred.
And have at least 3 years of experience in implementing water and sanitation projects in an NGO environment, Water development, sanitation, and hygiene Knowledge, develop and implement, community-based water resource management plans, including water harvesting conservation, structures, Strong understanding of water works principles and practices, Community Engagement: Experience working with communities and understanding their needs, Adaptability:
Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and situations, Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage project activities efficiently.
Preferably work experience for Water Resource Development Officer: NGOs, Experience of Project implementation at field level, Experience in capturing lessons, develop case stories, documentation and sharing, Good experience and track of record on networking, partnership and relationship building, lead the effective implementation of water resource development, sanitation, and hygiene projects, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's goals and strategies, foster collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, community partners, and community members, to promote the success of projects, apply a deep understanding of water resource development, sanitation, and hygiene principles and practices to design and execute projects that enhance access to safe water and sanitation facilities while promoting healthy hygiene practices, work to raise awareness and build the capacity of communities to manage and maintain water sources, sanitation facilities, and practice good hygiene, develop and conduct training programs on water harvesting techniques and technologies, ensuring communities acquire the skills to collect and manage water sustainably. Water development works such as Spring Development/Rehabilitation;
Lead efforts to rehabilitate or develop natural springs for safe and reliable water sources for human and animal consumption; Roof Water Harvesting:
Plan and implement roof water harvesting systems for schools and health posts to augment water supply during dry seasons.
Capacity Building: Strengthen the capacity of community water management committees, government institutions, and local stakeholders to ensure the long-term sustainability of water and sanitation projects.
Hygiene Promotion: Collaborate with healthcare facilities to provide counseling on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) practices to caregivers of children admitted for wasting treatment, emphasizing the importance of clean water and sanitation in recovery.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess the impact of water, sanitation, and hygiene interventions, using data to improve program effectiveness.
