Job Description

Responsibilities

    People

  • Inspire, influence, lead, motivate, direct, and develop site teams through a recognized /structured Operational Excellence approach so that they deliver the highest possible level of personal and collective contribution to the Business Goals: In particular:

  • Create and maintain a positive and results orientated environment where mutual trust, confidence and respect for Boortmalt culture and values prevails

  • Implement and maintain appropriate structures and manning levels in line with business needs.

  • Coach, inspire and guide your team to deliver expected or better results utilizing where required group support functions.

  • Develop and implement training and development plans together with the Group Operations Manager, GM's and local HR which bring peoples skills and abilities up to the Boortmalt.

  • Actively encourage people to develop themselves to their full potential.

  • Implement all change management/business improvements in accordance with Group HR Policies & Practices

  • Responsible for safety and security of plant personnel and assets, executing safety roadmaps, owning lagging and leading KPI’s, security processes.

  • Ensures that plant personnel (in- and outsourced) adheres to operational processes, shift schedules, and execute of operational tasks of each department in full on daily basis.

   Engineering

  • Managing the site to ensure maintenance of the plant and equipment is in line with the strategic objectives for the site.

  • Ensure that all plant and equipment is maintained and operated in accordance with laid down standards including SOP's, Health Safety & Environmental etc…

  • Drive Continuous Improvement via KPIs (SMART) year on year in the sites, challenging status quo and sharing best practices across plants.

  • Accountable for the asset care and plant equipment maintenance, preservation of technical reliability and longevity of assets

    Statutory/Legal Obligations

  • Ensure understanding and full compliance with all current legal & statutory obligations including, but not limited to, SHE, HACCP, Food Safety and Employment Legislation

   Quality

  • Make sure the plant is delivering quality malt according to defined expectations and customers’ expectations limiting customer complains.

  • Accountable for on-time-in-spec malt and byproduct shipments in alignment with the Quality Manager and Sales Account Manager

   Continuous Improvement Focus

  • Drive implementation of common KPI's. Make sure execution and follow up in the plant takes place.

  • Fully and positively participate in all Group improvement initiatives ensuring any changes to working practices, policies or procedures are communicated to and actively supported by the team and are in line with best practice (where appropriate) 

  • Ensure our business systems and ways of working always present our employees, our sites, and our Company in the most positive and professional manner to all visitors but especially customers.

  • Drive sustainability and innovation agenda at plant level to deliver group commitments in defined areas.

  • Fully participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of Group Business Management Systems in conjunction with Group functions.

   Financial

  • Prepare & operate within annual budgets.

  • CAPEX and Maintenance projects refining and follow up in conjunctions with Group Operations Manager to ensure adherence to budget and timelines defined.

  • Responsible for creating and executing plant cost and CAPEX budgets, base CAPEX plan execution and project management.

   Reporting & Administration

  • Develop & Implement & Follow across the company's reporting systems, policies, procedures, and requirements to cover all areas of the business with timelines for each e.g.  daily/weekly/monthly/annual/Excom etc.

  • Full accountability of fair and full recording and reporting of all in/out material flows (barley, malt, byproducts, technical and operational supplies, etc.)

  • Accountable for main plant KPI’s (safety, utilities, energy, yield, sustainability, and maintenance) and best practice implementation

  • Collaborates and communicates with key external stakeholders such as city administration, municipalities, regulatory and permitting institutions, etc. and represents the plant and the company in-line with its objectives and commitments.

Job Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in a manufacturing company, out of which who has 4 years of managerial experience in a factory operation area.

  • A background from the malting, brewing or distilling industry is preferred.

  • Other manufacturing backgrounds such as food, pharmaceutical manufacture or similar should be able to demonstrate skills required for the role.

  • Experience in a multination business is a plus.

Language / IT:

  • Fluent in English

  • Competent in the use of MS Office
