Job Description
The Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) is looking to recruit experienced, energetic, and committed Finance Director.
Brief about EIH
The Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) was established on December 29th, 2021, through the Council of Ministers Regulation No 487/2021. The objectives of EIH include serving as the strategic investment arm of the Government of Ethiopia (GoE) and contributing to sustainable economic development, through the management of its funds and assets, and achieving optimal use of the assets, in accordance with the international best practice and rules to maximize the value for the benefit of current and future generations of Ethiopians. EIH has acquired 27 state-owned enterprises (SOEs) following the decision of its Board of Directors. In line with its mandate, EIH will implement best-practice corporate governance and performance management techniques to ensure the long-term value creation of its subsidiary companies, and in doing so, enable them to attract investment that will help address strategic needs of the Ethiopian economy.
To ensure that the financial processes, systems and controls are operating effectively,
Controlling and recording cash and reconciling and cash deposits and cash payments against bank records,
Maintaining control of the company property, plant and equipment, calculates and records depreciation and prepares the P&E analysis for senior management decision,
Organizes and prepares EIH’s financial reports in accordance with IFRS and reporting requirements and assists the CFO in the consolidation of financial statements of EIH and its subsidiaries,
Preparing and releasing periodic management reports on monthly and quarterly basis and as required by management or other stakeholders,
Prepares guidelines for operating and capital budget guidelines, compiles the company budget, monitors budget utilization through variance analysis,
Responsible for planning, organizing, controlling and managing EIH’s sources of revenue,
Assists the CFO and investment management department in the evaluation of financial feasibility of all investment projects, advising on the applicable rate of return (WACC), etc.
She/he is responsible auditing and settlement of all payment requirements and maintain proper accounting records and establishing accruals
Evaluates, recommends, and administers the opening and closure of bank accounts for EIH,
Establishes and maintains strong and workable relationship with banks, insurance companies and financiers,
Assists the CFO in liquidity forecasting, recommending appropriate financing sources after thorough evaluation of the cost, risk and flexibility of the financing modalities,
Closely work with Portfolio Directors in the evaluation and improvement of SOEs financial system and control mechanisms,
Review, assess and analyze financial risk exposures of EIH’s operations and recommend appropriate mitigating mechanisms,
Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the senior management of EIH; assess any changes necessary
As ambassador of EIH, he/she is responsible to promote and adhere the values, brands, policies and procedures of EIH
Performs other duties as may be necessary and as assigned from time to time by the CFO or any delegated supervisor.
Reporting Structure - The selected candidate will be reporting to the Chief Financial Officer
Qualifications and Competencies
Minimum of a BA degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, or Economics, preferably international certification such as ACCA, CPA, CFA
A minimum of ten years of professional experience at least three years of which must have been served in a managerial or leadership role.
Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment; a can do attitude.
