Background    

USAID/Ethiopia Support Program (ESP) aims to provide pathways to a more democratic and stable Ethiopia by building an enabling environment for peaceful and inclusive consensus building processes. To this end, ESP works to strengthen intra- and inter-group relationships and actions, advance inclusive and constructive public discourse. Dexis Consulting Group is USAID’s implementing partner for ESP. 

Dexis will provide the personnel, systems, and technical capacity needed to ensure that the USAID Ethiopia Support Program is operational, grant-ready, and active in activity implementation. Dexis’ Field Team brings the USAIDs experience, relevant field experience, and operations savvy necessary for Dexis to quickly research, identify, and develop grants for activities with local organizations.  

Dexis is seeking a Driver for ESP. This is a full-time position based in Mekelle, Tigray Region.   

    Tasks & Responsibilities  

• Safely transporting staff as well as various products and materials to and from specified locations in a timely manner. 

• Maintain the vehicle and keep current on all vehicle maintenance such as refueling, tire pressure, etc., as well as conduct safety checks and vehicle logs.    

• Operate vehicles according to all security and drivers’ manuals.    

• Work with Office Manager/HR Assistant to support logistics team, program staff and any other need for transport in Tigray Region, and Other Regions.    

     Reporting    

The Driver reports to the Office Manager and HR Assistant, or their designee.   

Job Requirements

    Required Experience and Qualifications     

• At least two years of experience as a driver for an international organization.    

• Licensed driver with clean driving safety record.    

• High-level of integrity, with ability to accomplish tasks independently and on time.    

• Familiarity with local and regional routes.    

• Ability to travel to multiple regions as required.    

• Basic spoken English required 

• Ability to speak Tigrigna preferred.    

• Deep understanding of regional and local routes and rapidly changing security situations.   

• First aid certification preferred.
