Sunvado manufacturing Plc is a processing facility for premium organic avocado oil located in the heart of the organic avocado growing region in Ethiopia, about 300km south of Addis Ababa. The facility is owned by Tradin Organic, a company that specializes in organic ingredients and raw materials for the food industry.

Plant Manager - summery of the Job description

We are looking for an experienced and confident plant manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations on the plant floor while increasing production and revenue. You will manage scheduling, oversee daily operating reports, and increase production by providing leadership and developing strategic plans. You should be a strong leader with an analytical mind and excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations.

• Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.

• Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping.

• Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.

• Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.

• Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions.

• Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff.

• Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime.

• Commit to plant safety procedures.

• Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.

• Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts.

• Implement and manage all activities to fulfill national and international standard requirements.

• Evaluate KPI regularly, plan and implement improvement actions.

Location of Job

Preferably based in Hawassa or based in Addis Ababa with a frequent travel to Hawassa and Yirgalem.

Job Requirements

• BSC degree in Mechanical, electrical, or industrial Engineering or related field and Master's in business administration or management a plus 

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a plant Manager, but also open for high potential production managers with min 5 years’ experience in food industry that can step up to the level of plant manager.

• Proven work experience as a Plant Manager.

• Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)

• Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise

• Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory, and stewardship processes.

• Computer literacy

• Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.

• Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.

• Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management

• Responsible for Maintenance program and strategy

• Capex management

• Relationship management with Industrial Park management and other (local) authorities

• Quality control & management including audit/certification.

• Shipment/export from plant to export port (Djibouti)

Language

• English: Speaking and writing is a must.
