Job Description

The Opportunity

 The position holder is primarily responsible to empower adolescent girls and young women through sanitation market income-generating activities to lead, redesign, implementing, monitor, and evaluation, and manage

 The post holder is responsible for the delivery of results in line with pre-agreed project plans and objectives and oversees Project implementation at all stages throughout the project cycle. Given that a significant amount of the project thematic activities is done in partnership with key government sector offices, s/he will have also a key aspect of the role is nurturing, developing and facilitating the achievement of results.

 The post-holder will be based in Gambella yet will be expected to travel to project area of Lare, Itang special woreda, Abole, Abobo and Gog Woreda for approximately 80% of the time.

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

  • Ensures that all staff signed safeguarding policies;

  • Implement Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Organizational Development, Gender studies, social sciences or related discipline or equivalent experience;

  • 3 years’ relevant professional work experience in the areas of girl economic empowerment activities such as SanMark group. 

  • Minimum 1 years’ experience of working in the humanitarian and development sector; especially in the gender and livelihood sector.

  • Experience in working in livelihoods interventions like enterprise development, business management training, youth, and women's economic empowerment program.

  • Experience of engagement with the private sector, market actors, and business support services providers.

  • Experience and skills in playing a supportive role, demonstrating the ability to support field teams’ members to deliver results for operational work.

  • Experience in working with an NGO – especially in project implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

  • Passion for feminist principles, mission driven work and personal values aligned with Plan International.

  • Commitment to working transparently and with integrity.

  • Inclusive and empowering approach to leadership and project management. 

  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, natural ability to manage diverse opinions and agendas, finding win-win solutions in a respectful manner. 

  • Demonstrated creativity and willingness to innovate.

  • Flexible and adaptable work style to respond to an evolving context.

  • Proven leadership, inter-personal and cross-cultural skills, and ability to build and motivate teams.

  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines.

Languages required:

  • Fluency in English language is essential

  • In addition to Amharic other local Knowledge of Local Languages is a desirable
