JOB SUMMARY
The Epidemiologist will work towards understanding the patterns of diseases and injuries associated with explosive remnants of war. She/he will collect and analyze data, collaborate with the medical officer and the community mobilizer to develop interventions, and monitor their effectiveness.
The ERW team is responsible for assessing, managing, and mitigating the health risks associated with explosive remnants of war. The epidemiologist in the team will focus on identifying and analyzing patterns of disease and injury associated with exposure to explosive remnants of war.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES
· Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to ERW.
· Identify risk factors associated with exposure to explosive remnants of war.
· Develop and implement a surveillance system for tracking injuries and diseases related to ERW.
· Conduct investigations of disease outbreaks and injury clusters
· Collaborate with medical officer and community mobilizer to develop appropriate interventions to mitigate the health risks associated with explosive remnants of war.
· Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions aimed at reducing the health risks associated with explosive remnants of war
· Master's degree in epidemiology or a related field
· Experience working in a public health context, preferably in a conflict or post-conflict setting.
· At least Two years’ experience in the field out of which one year NGO experience in the field.
· Knowledge of epidemiological methods and analysis
· Strong data management and analytical skills
· Extremely flexible, able to work independently, and can cope with stressful situations and frustrations.
· Interest in and ability to work in team.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and oral Code of ConductAs applicable to this position, an individual must promote and encourage a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the organization and maintain a clear understanding of International Medical Corps’ and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.
