Main duties and responsibilities:

·       Respect the dignity of beneficiaries, caretakers, and members of the community at all times.

·       Provide technical and logistic support to the woreda health sector for effective implementation of IYCF activities

·       Analyze and reporting IYCF situation and prevailing trends

·       Develop or adapt IYCF/ECD materials to the local context based on previous materials and current child rearing practice and needs

·       Serve as primary point of contact between IMC and local partners involved in IYCF activities

·       Implement and adapt relevant ECD tools to measure ECD/IYCF outcomes integrated to CMAM

·       Assist nutrition staffs and lead mothers on counselling and strengthening ECD/IYCF project in the OTP/SC sites and community level

·       Educate other staffs about key aspects and components ECD/IYCF (e.g., Child development, improvement of mother-child interaction)

·       Prepare and submit monthly reports and updates on ECD/IYCF activities to the nutrition Officer

·       Promote gender equity and equality through each level of nutrition activities

·       Plan with HEW and other health workers to conduct comprehensive complementary feeding demonstration for effective, sustainable and efficient implementation of IYCF interventions

·       Actively participate in breast feeding establishment and monitor its effective implementation

·       Provide woreda level ECD/IYCF related on-the-job and formal training for HEWS and others working on nutrition activities

·       Support and organize on community and HDAs mobilization on IYCF

·       Actively participate on SMART and IYCF surveys

·       Perform supportive supervision to health facilities and community on ECD/IYCF activities and ensure they are implemented as planned

·       Ensure the cards, GMP registration books/cards and other registration and reporting formats filled properly

·       Ensure the families of malnourished children receive appropriate health and nutrition education and participate on nutrition programs

·       Establishing the linkage with community leaders and representatives

·       Organize review meeting at woreda level to review the progress of health interventions

·       With support from M & E officer, make sure all IYCF records are regularly filled and submitted (awareness sessions, database of counselled cases, etc.)

·       Liaise with woreda health office, and Health facilities and ensure the quality of IYCF/Nutrition  capacity building activities are technically sound, aligned with proposed  implementation plan and adhere  to standard guidelines;

·       Provide mothers with practical advice on correct attachment and positioning when   breastfeeding, timely introduction of complementary foods and respond to any concerns or local taboos associated with IYCF

·       Perform other duties as required  

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: (Training/education/experience/physical demands required; provide 6-8 requirements)

ü  Degree in nutrition or nursing or public health with 3 years of experience or diploma in nutrition or nursing or public health with 5 years of experience-

ü  Renewed MoH professional license is important

ü  Training on IYCF and revised national guideline for management of acute malnutrition

ü  Experience of facilitation of training and review meetings

ü  Fluent in written and spoken English language

ü  Knowledge of local language to the respective Woredas

ü  Good computer skills (Word, Excel)

ü  Ensure that IMC’s food security program and approach is in line with policies and strategies of the Government of Ethiopia’s as well
