Ethiopian Construction Design and Supervision Works Corporation (ECDSWCo.) is transforming and diversifying from the current consultancy business operations. Taking advantage of the existing ECDSWCo.’s strength and maximizing on the newly emerging external opportunities that are being prevalent with the shifts in Ethiopian Economic Policy – the Corporation is aiming to play a significant role to the success of the Ethiopian Construction Industry -by creating a vibrant business institution that will not only fill the gap that is in the current construction industry, but also replace the need for having international construction companies that are dominating the government mega scale projects.
To this, the Corporation is emerging as an Engineering and Investment Group. The proposed name of the Group is ‘’Ethiopian Engineering and Investment Group (EEIG)’’. The Group will comprise of three main operational business units i.e., Consultancy, Construction and Investment.
EEIG-Construction business unit key activities are high-end complex construction projects, predominately high-rise commercial and residential buildings, real-estate; infrastructure (roads, railways and airports) & water and energy sector construction. EEIG-Construction alone would grow into a conglomerate of several business units including Piling, underground and foundation Works, Fit-Out, Energy (Solar Solutions), Electro- Mechanical Solution, Facility Management, Landscape and Construction Materials Production.
EEIG Construction is launched with the vision of being the best construction company in Ethiopia with a strategy of Timeously executing high-end complex projects, by utilizing proactive management skills as a Design and Build Contractor in order to achieve an optimum return and aspiring to be a competitive and preferred choice that can replace the current dependence on international contractors and deliver excellence. EEIG Construction will uphold Courage, Integrity, Reliability, Value for its People and Innovation as its core values.
Position Overview/Scope of role:
The Recruitment Specialist contribute to the efficiency of EEIG Construction by ensuring that its staffing needs are met effectively on time in full. Working in the human resources department, specialists advertise job openings, review applicants’ CV and support create strategies that enhance the company’s ability to attract and retain workers. The Recruitment Specialists is responsible for managing relationship with internal stakeholders, external candidates and agencies to provide support and advice.
Through effective use of appropriate sourcing channels (print and online media), conduct sourcing activities in order to fill open positions and build an external talent pipelines for current and future vacancies.
The Recruitment specialist will help the HR Director / Recruitment and Resourcing Manager/ Hiring Manager to draft job descriptions then use print media, job sites and/ social media, to invite applicants.
Support design and manage effective and efficient recruitment and selection processes (CV screening, screening calls, interviews, assessments etc.)
Pre-screen external talent to build ‘long list’ of candidates for Hiring Managers and Project Managers
Schedules interviews/assessments for candidates and hiring managers and communicates with them on an ongoing basis as well as ensuring times in calendar are booked for all key stakeholders for interviews.
Support the application process from beginning to end, including candidate responses, experience and ensure qualified candidates remain engaged in current or future opportunities.
Ensure the best talent being appointed into roles in the shortest possible time (meet Time to hire targets).
Ensure background check conducted, pre-employment formalities are finalized for new joiners within set SLA (service level agreement)
Lead and facilitate the Corporate Induction and on boarding activities for new joiner and movers both at the head office and project site level.
Support lead graduate recruitment process and the execution of the event with the resourcing and recruitment team and ensure all the appropriate materials are available for attraction and selection.
Serve as brand ambassador at various events, like career fairs or on-campus recruiting events
Generate monthly updates for HR Director about upcoming talent needs, existing CV database, and new initiatives.
Proactively seek market intelligence to gain competitive advantage in attraction, assessment and sourcing methodologies
Come up with recommendations for employee engagement and retention initiatives
Work effectively and efficiently with the rest of the HR team for an effective life cycle of an employee experience.
Perform other duties as required by the Resourcing and Recruitment Manager and or HR Director
Technical skills –Computer literacy and social media usage (e.g. LinkedIn) skills are frequently essential in this role
Team coordination –should be able to effectively coordinate team activities to achieve common goals
Analytical thinking – in order to examine applicant CV and other credentials to find suitable candidates for positions within EEIG Construction
Communication skills – written and verbal communication are important in this position, a recruitment specialist must effectively communicate with candidates and managers within EEIG Construction both in Amharic and English
Networking – should be skilled networker, able to build professional relationships and identify opportunities to connect with individuals
Candidate should be able to travel and work anywhere in Ethiopia.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Work Experience – 5 years and above in HR with special focus on recruitment in related industry
Education background - a bachelor’s degree in human resources or in a related business field.
Candidates having an international experience Or have worked for international companies here in Ethiopia will be given priority.
