Job Description

Role 

The purpose of this position is to implement child protection program at community level and/or IDPs. It also is intended to ensure to support and linkages to service providers in the crisis affects emergency response programs. The post holder is responsible for the deliveries of results in line with pre-agreed program planes and objectives and oversee the implementation of the child protection.

Identification, Registration and Documentation 

  • Ensure coordination and confidential information sharing with CP officer, implementing partner organisations and community-based child protection groups and networks, as well as relevant stakeholders at community level

  • Identify missing children and children who need family tracing and reunification services.

Case Management Intervention 

  • Regularly document cases using case inter agency standard forms to update databases to ensure a comprehensive record of the case.

  • Informs the child and the family of the new relationship and the conditions under which they may be accepted again for assistance.

  • Understand the nature of the child/family’s needs and problems. This entails assessing the risks to family members and the strengths of the child.

  • Help identify the goals and the services or assistance they need and help obtain those services.

  • Conduct the case planning for unaccompanied and separated children and other children at risk. Work with the child, family and community to develop a Case Plan. And work with the child, family and community 

  • Link the child and family with the needed services  (referrals) and coordinate multiple services (case conference)

  • Provide direct service (e.g. PFA, mediation, skills building & giving resources)

Job Requirements

Technical expertise, skills and knowledge

  •  Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Sociology, Psychology, Social work, Law, Political Science, community development or other related field of social science studies.

  •  Three years of relevant professional experience in a similar position experience of working with vulnerable children, including children outside of parental care.

  • Experience in designing and facilitating of training and capacity building on child protection, counselling and/or case management technical areas with a variety of audiences.

  • · Experience in community mobilization and conducting outreach activities.

Skills Specific to the Post and Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with colleagues.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation.

  • Ability to analyse information and evaluate options including planning skills.

  • Proficient in computer skills and use of relevant software and other applications.

  • Child centre development and Gender aware.

  • Fluency in English languages

  • Knowledge and skill of local languages is a plus
