Habesha Breweries S.C. is looking for a Raw Material Specialist. 

The Role Summary:

The raw material specialist enforces, maintains, and monitors the quality of incoming materials. Under the supervision of a Process technologist brewing, the raw material specialist oversees following packaging trials, setting standards for incoming raw materials, approving new raw materials, auditing suppliers, handling complaints arising from production and suppliers, developing new suppliers, and following mandatory certifications and controlling them.

Result Areas and Responsibilities:

Raw material and packaging materials management

• Develop and maintain incoming materials quality checking systems.

• Perform incoming material quality checks and prepare reports.

• Ensuring that incoming materials meet set requirements and specifications.

• Managing material storage in the warehouse using proper labeling and segregation of items batch-wise.

•  Review certificate of compliance or certificate of analysis.

 Develop raw materials, chemicals, and packaging materials quality standards.

• Develop raw materials and chemicals standards that align with Ethiopian and international standards.

• Develop specific packaging material quality standards that align with Ethiopian and international standards.

• Ensuring raw materials and packaging material ingredients have no effect on the environment.

Evaluate the suitability of new packaging material.

• Running trials to check the packaging for suitability and testing for performance under various conditions.

• Evaluating, selecting, and negotiating with suppliers.

• Identifying and choosing products from suppliers.

• Coordinate and perform physical, chemical, and biological testing and inspection of the product and/or packaging and ingredients.

Handling material-related customer complaints Daily sales report

• Receive and properly record the complaint detail.

• Analyze the issue and discuss it with relevant parties to find a solution for the problem.

• Prepare a corrective action plan and corrective action for the problem.

Job Requirements

The Person:

This role is positioned at a mid-level and requires 3 and above years of relevant experience in the brewing industry with an experience on FSMS.

Education and Experience

• BSC degree in Food Process Engineering/Technology, Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering & related

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Excellent problem-solving/troubleshooting ability.

• Must be able to work in a team-oriented and "Safety First" environment.

• Good knowledge of the packaging process.

• Ability to build a strong team relationship by helping, understanding, and motivating the team to accomplish team goals.

• Ability to accomplish tasks on a very tight schedule.
