Position Title: Project Assistant-Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM)

Duty Station: Multiple Duty Stations: Chinaksen, Deder, Hirna, Chiro (Diredawa AoR), Ethiopia.

Classification: G3

Type of Appointment: Special Short Term, 6 months with possibility of extension

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. Under the overall supervision of the Head of Sub Office, technical supervision of CCCM Programme Manager/CCCM Officer, and direct supervision of the Senior Project Associate, the successful candidate will perform the following functions.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  1. Provide general/clerical assistance in the implementation of CCCM project activities and support Project Associates (CCCM) in implementation of field level CCCM activities under all four CCCM pillars, Coordination & Information Management, Community Participation & Self-Governance, Site Planning, Development & Improvement, and Capacity Building.

  2. Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.

  3. Assist in monitoring budget and updating budget related information.

  4. Perform administrative tasks for project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units or external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process, and follow-up on administrative actions.

  5. Assist CCCM Assistant on the establishment of site leadership and representative governance structures (site committees) and train them accordingly on their roles and responsibility using available IOM’s standard tools e.g., Terms of Reference (ToR) and Code of Conduct (CoC).

  6. Collect, organize, and share with IM team the beneficiary, CFM data on weekly basis, data for site profiles etc.

  7. Draft status reports, correspondence, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations, and other forms of documentation.

  8. Support the organization of meetings, workshops and training sessions.

  9. Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.

  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • School diploma with three years of relevant experience; or

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with one years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;

  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,

  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

Languages

Required

  • Fluency in English is required (oral and written).

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of Oromifa and Somali languages is desirable.

Skills

  • In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization; and,

  • Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.

  • Knowledge of financial rules and regulations.
