Job Description
Major Responsibility
As the communications representative for W4L+ Project, manage the creation and distribution of communications products for the project that builds World Vision’s brand awareness and increases trust locally and internationally, especially with donors.
Develop and implement a project communications plan, in alignment with global grant communications standards and donor visibility requirements, that positions World Vision, and the W4L+ project, positively with all relevant audiences.
Create high-quality, compelling communications resources showing W4L+ project evidence of impact, such as:
articles and stories (for use on social, website, etc.)
graphic design (infographics, factsheets, publications)
photos and videos
media relations materials such as press releases, statements, and briefings
project reporting for donor audiences
behavior change communications and campaigns that support project delivery
internal communications and initiatives to ensure staff across Ethiopia are connected, engaged, and inspired
Leverage appropriate social and traditional media channels as defined by World Vision and Donor priority audiences to disseminate content.
Ensure designated spokespersons for the W4L+ project speak as trusted ambassadors for World Vision, and its consortium partners.
Support efforts to present W4L+ project activities to the public or to VIP visitors, including regional and national meetings and workshops, learning events and processes, and signing ceremonies or other milestone events.
Manage Content Flow, Story Hub, and other content management systems
Ensure the secure and catalogued management of all Communications design digital assets
Ensure effective communications job flow and project management with Head Office Communications & Marketing teams such as Creative Services, Public Engagement, Internal Engagement, Marketing Operations, Supporter Engagement, as well as national level Advocacy campaigns - ensuring calendars, timetables, schedules, and itineraries are kept
Support communications efforts of the W4L+ Project across its consortium partners in other field offices
Develop and write proposal, capacity statement of W4L+ project for effective donor engagement and partnership
Contribute in the production of the NO’s corporate annual report
Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification
Degree or equivalent in Journalism and Communications, Literature, Marketing, or similar
Professional certifications in any of the technical areas of communications or marketing
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of the marketing, communication, and media industry.
Thorough knowledge of international development, and marketing and communications needs.
Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
Strategic and creative mindset.
Meticulous, detail oriented and thorough.
Required Professional Experience
5-7 years’ experience creating and leveraging high-quality communications resources in international humanitarian and development sectors, corporate and business communications, or creative sector (including communications strategy development (essential).
Demonstrated experience working with external partner relationships (e.g., agencies and production companies, and media and press).
Advanced technical skills in several of the major areas of the job, such as editorial and story writing, graphic design, video and photo production, social and traditional media and in Microsoft Office and creative applications such as Adobe Creative Cloud.
Proven experience of training and capacity building.
Experience with research and/or data analysis: Comfortable drawing out relevant information from densely written reports.
Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement
Working primarily at head office in Addis Ababa, semi-regular travel locally and internationally will be required.
