Manager, IFB Internal Audit

DB/ Vacancy- 0155/23

Job Summary

  • The Manager, IFB Internal Audit is responsible for implementing comprehensive audits that assess the effectiveness, efficiency, economy, compliance, and ethics of operations related to interest-free banking. In addition, the jobholder is responsible for planning and executing IFB audits within the Bank and ensures that the quality of the audits is in accordance with internal audit policies and procedures, international internal audit standards relating to Islamic finance, and Shari’ah principles.

Job Requirements

Academic & Professional Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Economics, Information Technology, Law, Accounting, Finance, or Banking from a reputable University.

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or related business field from a recognized institution is an added advantage.

  • Relevant professional qualification such as Certified Shari’ah Auditor (CSAU), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certifications in Islamic Finance) is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience out of which two (2) years in supervisory capacity.

Behavioral Competency

  • Strong leadership and skills to foster teamwork; develop and motivate staff, resolve conflicts as well as ability to provide direction in order to achieve organizational objectives.

  • Ability to lead, influence and drive change initiatives in support of business strategies within the branch.

  • Strong business acumen.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills including ability to develop proposals, concept papers, position papers, etc.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate with and manage multi-cultural teams.

  • Strong expertise in strategic management project planning and budgeting, resource management, implementation as well as monitoring and evaluation.

  • Must be a self-starter, highly organized, and able to work well with people at all levels in the organization.

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Analytical and creative thinking skills.

  • Strong persuasion and negotiation skills.

  • Good customer relationship management skills (internal and external customers)

  • Risk awareness and focus - demonstrates understanding of risk management practices, standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Effective stakeholder management.

Required Technical Competency

  • A distinguished professional history demonstrating an in-depth understanding of Interest Free(Islamic) banking operation, IFB Deposit and Investment/Financing products and working knowledge Shari’ah principles pertaining to IFB.                                                                                                                                              Sound understanding of relevant Shari’ah requirements applicable to Islamic financial business

  • Knowledge of policies, regulations and directives related to Financial Sectors

  • Understanding of the standards of Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and ability to fully comply with IIA standards. 

  • Risk management skills including risk assessment, evaluation, quantification, mitigation and reporting skills.

  • Sound knowledge of IFB mode of finance/investments and associated risks.

  • Proactive in identifying compliance issues and developing appropriate recommendations.

  • Consistent follow through in ensuring corrective or mitigation actions are put in place.                       

  • Networking skills to effectively leverage on relationships that will enhance customer acquisition and retention.

  • Extensive banking background, including understanding credit, risk management, and compliance requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior level leaders regarding key business priorities, issues and initiatives.

  • Working knowledge and analysis experience with interest free/banking requirements.

  • Clear understanding of emerging bank risks and relevant emerging issues in IFB risk management.

  • Knowledge of policies, regulations and directives related to Financial Sector.
