POSITION: Young Professional Development Program – First Consult
First Consult is a leading economic development consulting firm in Ethiopia. Founded in 2006, FC has grown to design and implement projects across the agriculture, manufacturing, and service sectors. Our multidisciplinary teams combine a capacity to execute with a deep understanding of the local context. We have delivered at-scale real impact in terms of jobs and wealth creation, business formation and growth, and investment attraction and mobilization.
The Young Professionals Development Program (YPDP) is a one-year program designed to empower young professionals by providing them with comprehensive training, mentorship, and development opportunities. The program aims to enhance the participants' skills, expand their network, and advance their careers by offering various workshops, seminars, networking events, and other activities.
The Young Professional (YP) is expected to have the drive and dedication to gain diverse experiences and work on a range of projects. Through this process, the YP will discover where their strengths lie and identify the area that best aligns with their interests and career goals. The YP is also expected to put in a lot of self-effort to gaining knowledge and experience in the sector and department they are interested in pursuing.
The specific responsibilities of a YP will vary depending on the organization and the YP's area of specialization.
Contribute to ongoing projects and initiatives within your chosen area of specialization, under the guidance of experienced mentors and managers.
Attend training sessions, workshops, and seminars designed to sharpen your technical, managerial, and leadership skills.
Collaborate with other young professionals and colleagues from diverse backgrounds to promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and teamwork.
Participate in networking events to build relationships with industry leaders and explore potential career opportunities.
Participate in performance evaluations and receive constructive feedback to facilitate personal and professional growth.
Be adaptable and able to handle change in a fast-paced work environment.
Engage in critical and creative problem solving.
Put in self-effort to learn and grow professionally.
Be a recent university/higher education graduate in economics, technical agriculture, business administration, ICT, communications, marketing, accounting/finance or have work experience of one year or less
Graduate with a minimum CGPA of 3.0
Prior internship or work experience in a relevant field is appreciated.
Demonstrated passion for and commitment to your chosen area of specialization
LOCATION
The selected Young Professionals will be based in Addis Ababa. However, the selected Young Professional must be open to relocate if required both on a short-term basis and for the durationmof the program.
REPORTING
The selected Young Professional (YP) will report to his/her designated Department Head. The Department Head will be responsible for providing the YP with guidance, support, and feedback.
