Project HOPE seeks an experienced professional to support to provide technical support and coordinate all activities related to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene under its Boeing funded project.

POSITION TITLE: Critical Care Specialist
REPORTS TO: Innovation coordinator (QHA) and Emergency and Critical Care Advisor (PH)
DUTY STATION: Addis Ababa
PROGRAM: USAID Quality Health Activity
MINIMUM HOURS OF WORK: 40 Hours per Week
ACTIVITY BACKGROUND
USAID Quality Healthcare Activity (QHA) aims at improving health outcomes through improved readiness of health facilities to deliver quality reproductive, maternal, new born, child, and adolescent health (RMNCAH) services, increased management and accountability for quality service delivery, and restoration of services in health facilities in conflict-affected areas. QHA's strategies and implementation approaches will help Ethiopia's government build responsive, resilient, and sustainable public and private healthcare systems. QHA will cover urban and peri-urban primary health care units (PHCU) and referral health facilities in selected regions and woredas. The Activity, through funding support from USAID, is led by prime partner JSI and the sub partners are Project HOPE, Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), MSI Reproductive Choices (MSI), and Network of Ethiopian Women's Associations (NEWA) and will be implemented for the next five years from May 01, 2023 - April 30, 2028.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Critical care specialist is a full-time staff of Project HOPE, under the USAID Quality Health Activity and the job holder will be in-charge of routine site level implementation support and technical assistance on critical services in target health facilities. S/he will conduct regular assessment of emergency and critical care services delivered by the target health facilities. The position holder will coordinate clinical care trainings (on the job and off-site). S/he will participate on regular technical assistance and supportive supervision visits across the project target sites. S/he will execute additional critical, and emergency medical care quality improvements tasks assigned by the Emergency and Critical Care Advisor.
Lead the planning and implementation of critical care activities in the QHA targeted districts and health facilities.
Provide technical and programmatic assistance to the implementation of critical care activities.
Work closely with the other QHA activities to maximize aligned and integrated result.
Ensure the implementation of the strategies to improve quality critical care activities.
Design and implement quality critical care strategies, tools, and approaches at target sites.
Identify training needs of quality Critical care service providers and facilitate organization of related trainings.
Work closely with other emergency and critical care project team to ensure integrated quality emergency and critical care services are provided in the operation sites.
With guidance from the ECC Advisor and Innovation coordinator, develop and submit annual work plans and budget, quarterly reports and other activity reports as requested by the Prime and the donor.
Document best practices and lessons related with quality emergency and critical care for program scale up;
Participate in designing and executing quality emergency and critical care intervention studies
Travel to regions to support field program activities and capacity building efforts.
Perform other functions assigned by the supervisor.
MD/ plus Master’s degree in public health preferable or other related fields with a minimum of 7 years of professional experience of which 5 years on emergency and critical care programs.
Demonstrated Knowledge of emergency and critical care health services (e.g., Emergency care , neonatal , pediatric, maternal , surgical and medical ICUs ).
Experience in different emergency and critical care capacity building and research development at different level.
Experience/ skills in practical clinical experience and program implementation at the field level.
Previous implementation experience of USAID projects or related consortium partnership program implementation experience
Demonstrated experience in mentorship, training, and supervision skills.
Strong technical, writing, teamwork, communication, presentation/ facilitation skills is required.
Knowledge on Microsoft Offices and other statistical software
Ability to travel to project operation sites more than (50%) of its time.
