Job Description
The position holder shall be in charge of reproductive maternal and child health services delivered through the Mobile Health and Nutrition Teams (MHNT) mechanism in the assigned Woreda. This will include health education to targeted beneficiaries on maternal and child health, family planning services, safe motherhood and child health consultation such as Antenatal, delivery, postnatal and essential new born services, Iron supplementation, provision of TT vaccination, identification of high risk mothers and facilitation of referral and counselling on FP, exclusive breast feeding among others
The position holder is also expected to provide technical assistance and capacity building to health extension workers and Health workers in health facilities within the assigned Woreda.
She/he will be responsible for the daily implementation of mobile health and Nutrition services package as per the approved standard, supporting Kebeles assigned for integrated mobile health & nutrition modality
She/he will also be responsible for day-to-day documentation of all provided services accordingly and compile weekly and monthly reports and share with Health Officer.
Improving basic preventive health care at community level in line with public health emergency management with emphasis on health especially preventing maternal and newborn deaths.
Conduct & undertake family health services as part of primary health care
Provide ANC, PNC, delivery and essential new-born care.
Provide maternal nutrition counselling and breast feeding including Iron and Folic acid supplementation for pregnant mothers
Provide iron supplementation, TT vaccine, FP counselling and contraceptives
Strengthening of early referrals mechanism all obstetrics complications and other maternal and child health illnesses.
Ensure all referral cases are properly transported to the nearest or Woreda capital health facility based on the availability of ambulance and seriousness of the illness.
Strengthening of linkages and coordination mechanisms between community and the Woreda health bureaus.
Train and support health workers (HWs) and health extension workers (HEWs) on how to provide quality maternal and child health services.
Train and support community-based volunteer where applicable, health workers for the implementation of the community component of the project.
Conduct planning and promotion of awareness creation on Family planning including available contraceptives, nutrition and preventative health care issues in the community.
Establish effective communication and close working relationships with project team (Snr Project Officer, MHNT Team members, other nutrition team members, program beneficiaries and Woreda Health offices,.
Planning, Reporting and Accountability
Prepare monthly progress reports and any other required documentation for submission to the Project Manager
Ensure weekly and monthly reports are submitted to the project manager using appropriate format (narrative and statistics with database)
Ensure that program participants and stakeholders have clear information about the program activities as appropriate and relevant to them.
At all times, adhere to policies and guidelines of Concern.
Support on cascading induction on mainstreaming gender, protection, accountability, HIV/AIDS, and equality to other project staff
Ensure proper documentation of good practices, success stories, challenges for learning and sharing
Follow clearly appropriate protocols and guidelines - National.
Participate in the weekly/ monthly data compilation and reporting of Mobile activities
Prepare both weekly and monthly reports regarding your activities, identified, problems and proposed solutions for your immediate supervisor and program manager (if he/she needs it)
Ensure timely request of drugs, supplies and other program items necessary for the MHNT in collaboration with the Health Officer.
Additional Duties
Perform other duties assigned by the line manager for the accomplishment of programme objectives.

Accountability

actively promote meaningful community participation and consultation at all stages of the project cycle (planning, implementation, M&E);
work with relevant colleagues to ensure that the Complaints and Response Mechanism (CRM) is functional and accessible, that feedback and complaints are welcomed and addressed;
work with relevant colleagues to ensure that information about CRM, safeguarding and expected staff behavior is disseminated among programme participants and communities.
Safeguarding
Ensure the maximum protection of programme participants from exploitation by working on the adherence of CONCERN Code of Conduct (CCoC) with three Associated Policies; the Programme Participant Protection Policy (P4), the Child Safeguarding Policy and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Policy.
Ensure program participant Protections by adhering standards of the safeguarding policy when program participants be in contact with CONCERN during different trainings, meetings, workshops and contractual works.
Assess the safety and security of different meeting, workshop and training venues in collaboration with project HR unit
Provide technical support &Advise to Project Manager Follow up & Monitor Strategic Implementation of Concern Safeguarding Issues collaborating with Gender & Safeguarding team in Concern.

BSc Degree in Midwifery with minimum of three years or Diploma in Midwifery with five years relevant experience
Proven experience in Midwifery
Knowledge on emergency nutrition and health interventions including infant and young child feeding (IYCF) interventions.
Good communication and report writing skills
Good negotiation skill with government and other agencies
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written English.
Good interpersonal skills and team player with sensitivity to cultural diversity
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to understand and respect the cultural, religious and political environment and to work well with staff and local authorities in a diplomatic
Experience in providing training and capacity building for staff
Proficiency in Somali Language is mandatory
