The Public Relations and Communication Specialist will be a core member of ACEWM project staff on contract basis whenever assigned for a duty, operating under the supervision of the Project Manager and in close collaboration with other members of ACEWM. She/he will be responsible for the design and implementation of ACEWM’s public relation and communication strategies as well as for collaborating on outreach activities.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Design and implement ACEWM’s public relations and communication strategies that go along with the Center’s objectives and collaborate with management to implement an effective communications strategy based on our target audience.

• Coordinate media relations including drafting press advisories, press releases, coordinating interviews, monitoring media coverage, responding to journalists’ inquiries and media requests in close collaboration with the responsible/relevant program officer(s),

• Identify and prioritize critical ACEWM’s objectives, products and activities that can achieve higher visibility through media support,

• Coordinate the development and dissemination of ACEWM’s messages, advocacy tool and other products including outreach activities for dissemination of ACEWM’s message, preparation of communication and promotional materials, and development of community or scientific based documentaries etc.

• Write and distribute content to promote an organization’s brand, activities, or products.

• Act as a liaison between the organization, the public, and the media to ensure that the brand remains top of mind. Respond to media inquiries and perform media outreach to achieve brand placement in publications

• Support/coordinate ACEWM’s participation in national/international events including the preparation of material and coordination with partner organizations and guests,

• Development and management of ACEWM’s website content, social media and related on-line tools,

• Assist in developing ACEWM’s internal knowledge base,

• Monitor and communicate results and impacts of ACEWM’s activities to concerned stakeholders.

• Design, Edit, publish and dispatch conference papers, newsletters, Graduation Bulletins and policy briefs

• Ensure update and maintenance of a web portal to share information on the ACEWM program

• Carry out other related activities assigned by the office

Job Requirement

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public relation and Communication Strategies, Political Science and International Relations, Information Technology and Communication or related fields

• Four (for Master)/ Six (for Bachelor)/ years of relevant work experience in Journalism, Public Relations and Communication Strategies, or Information Technology

• Fluency in both spoken and written English and Amharic , and Excellent interpersonal skills

• Proficient in computing Skills/graphic skills/photographic and video editing/developing skills, content management systems, and social media platforms etc

• Good time management and organizational skills

• Knowledge on water management is plus

Applicants who clearly meet the Education/Professional qualifications and basic eligibility requirements will be evaluated as follows.
