JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for Protection mainstreaming in MTI’s Projects within the geographical area of responsibility including that includes (GBV and Child Protection Mainstreaming), Monitoring, Community Based Protection, Case Management of the IPs/Case Support, Advocacy for the rights of displaced people and people with disabilities, and other protection issues according to the context.
Ensuring that all projects are in-line with National and International technical quality standards and providing technical expertise on project implementation.
The manager will also participate in coordination functions that enable the functioning of multi-sectoral mechanisms of delivery of services for GBV survivors in each context and setting and play a key role in Advising the SMT on all Protection related issue.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Planning
Work closely with the Field Coordinators, the country management team, and relevant Field staff to understand GBV response program goals and to meet expectations
Guide prevention and response programming in Ethiopia including the GBV and Child Protection response interventions in MTI locations
Provide required support to IPC on case management and psychosocial services for GBV response survivors and vulnerable women and girls.
Analyze trends of IP and MTI on Protection response and develop/adjust program strategies to meet needs
Lead the development of community mobilization and awareness-raising strategies
Lead and or support GBV assessments as needed
Lead and or contribute to the development of proposals for any new projects, both Protection response related and Protection Mainstreaming.
Lead, organize and monitor quality of PSEA implementation across all program sites (currently Amhara, Afar, Tigray)
Produce regular activity and donor reports
Strengthen protection mainstreaming and Age Gender and Diversity (AGD) approach in the country office by providing support to the country office and field offices as well as the other sectoral teams
Coordination:
Work closely with Donors, local authorities, Ministry of Women and Childrens affairs (MOWCA), RRS and NGO partners to ensure well-coordinated prevention and response activities
Actively participate in and represent MTI at all protection related working groups and relevant task force meetings including the Protection Cluster, GBV-CP AOR and the GBV-CP and MHPSS working group as agreed with the Country Director
Coordinate with other sector actors and working groups to ensure Protection integration
Promote improved understanding of protection issues among all relevant stakeholders and ensure the observance of international protection and humanitarian law standards.
Monitoring
Undertake quality control and site monitoring to ensure that services provided are according to international best practice standards;
Training:
Train staff and volunteers to provide psychosocial support and case management services
Organize and co-facilitate trainings for medical practitioners in clinical care for sexual assault survivors.
Support development and delivery of trainings for partners, community leaders and others
Promote professional development by identifying training and capacity building opportunities and ensure staff are well versed in core protection concepts, MTI’s code of conduct, and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse.
Representation:
Represent the organization at meetings as appropriate
Ensure maximum visibility of the agency amongst the UN, Donor and NGO community
Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organization’s Code of Conduct
Human Resources Management:
Assist in the selection, training, and support of qualified program staff
Develop support strategies for staff and introduce principles of self-care
Participate in staff recruitment, capacity development and performance planning and appraisal
Financial Management:
Prepare financial plans including procurement and spending plans in line with protection programs
Work with Logistics to procure program supplies within program budgets
Adhere to MTI and donor requirements and flag any funding challenges
Security:
Ensures application and compliance of security protocols and policies
Consider security implications of all program activities, reviewing new initiatives with national staff, partners and community leaders
Compliance & Ethics:
Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout MTI. As applicable to position, maintains a clear understanding of MTI and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards. Conducts work with the highest level of integrity. Communicates these standards to partners and requires them to adhere to these values.
Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:
Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within MTI and amongst beneficiaries served by MTI.
This position requires frequent travel to health facilities located in remote areas with very basic living conditions and possible ongoing security challenges

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Advanced degree in Gender studies, Social Work, Public Health, International Development or other relevant field of study preferred
Five years of progressive senior level Protection programing (management and coordination).
A broad understanding of Protection and contemporary Protection- related issues with experience in adapting internationally recognized tools to fit different contexts
Knowledgeable in the Revised 2015 IASC GBV Guidelines, with ability to facilitate trainings and support non-GBV specialized agencies in integrating GBV interventions in their humanitarian actions
Knowledgeable of existing Child Protection Guidelines and relevant international applicable laws
Knowledgeable in GBVIMS and strong on protecting and promoting the information sharing protocol
Experience in emergencies and conflict areas strongly preferred
Relevant experience in refugee and IDP setting is strongly preferred
Familiarity with standards and guidelines for GBV programming and coordination as well as guidance on protection from SEA
Familiarity with approaches for community and individual psychosocial support
Preference for certified or experienced trainer in some or all of: Psychological First Aid, PM+ (individual and group), Lay Counselling, UNHCR Protection Mainstreaming, Case Management of Rape, Survivor Centred Approach, PSEA, SGBV awareness, Disability awareness, Child Protection case management, Child Protection awareness.
Familiarity with international humanitarian operations, coordination structures, and the mandates of donors, UN agencies, and other NGOs
Profound cross-cultural awareness
Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently
Flexibility, and the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations
Excellent decision making skills
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to work well with a team
Proficient in computer applications, especially with MS Word and MS Excel
