About the Organization:

 VisionFund Micro Finance Institution (S.C) is an Institution established according to proclamation No. 40/96 which currently amended to 626/2009 to provide financial services to the productive poor in the rural and urban areas of Ethiopia. VisionFund is currently operating in four of the Regional States of the country.

VisionFund MFI is currently looking for candidates for Senior Legal Officer role. The successful candidates will have skills and experience that meet the following requirements:

1.   Major Responsibilities

•            Represents VF MFI before trial and appellant courts, in hearings and administrative legal actions;

• Conducts investigation of theft, forgeries and misappropriations involved on VF MFI’s property or funds and takes appropriate legal action;

• Participates in preparing legal opinions on claims, proposed acts, contract and other legal instruments;

• Prepares and provides standard contracts and other legal documents to the different work units of the Company;

• Provides legal opinions and explanations upon request to different work units;

• Participates and gives opinions in the preparation of rules, regulations, directives and other legal related cases;

• Periodically updates all legal documents in accordance with the laws of the country;

• Assists Area and Branch Offices in handling legal matters;

• Closely follows-up loan repayment schedules and takes the appropriate action on overdue loans in consultation with concerned Area and Branch Offices;

• Provides orientation, training and information to the operation staff on legal issues and new developments of the law with respect to micro-finances and properties;

• Prepares progress reports and submits to the Service Director.

Job Requirements

• LLB Degree in Law.

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.

• Able to communicate and good presentation skill;

• Good knowledge of the court system and procedures, legal ethics;

• Ability to interpret, analyse and solve problems;

• Ability to act in professional and ethical manner;

• Capability and willingness to take responsibility and highly developed sense of integrity;

• Proficiency in Microsoft office applications.

• Ability to act in professional and ethical manner.
