John Snow, Inc. (JSI) is a public health management firm, headquartered in the United States, dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities throughout the world. JSI has been implementing public health work in Ethiopia for over 25 years.

JSI has been implementing public health work in Ethiopia for over 25 years. JSI is supporting the Ethiopian Ministry of Health to improve efficiencies in vaccine administration through the deployment of MasterCard’s Wellness Pass solution and complementary services. JSI will serve as a third-party service provider to the Ministry of Health to help it in its implementation of the Program in Ethiopia.  

The Implementation coordinator is a member of the implementation team. He/she supports the Activity manager in the development of a detailed implementation plan and leads implementation rollout by coordinating follow up and provide support to implementation officers, regional health bureau staff and other partners. The Implementation coordinator will serve as a bridge between the Activity manager and Implementation officers to ensure issues raised are resolved in a timely manner. He/she is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of activities and compliance with JSI policies and regulations.  

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities of the Implementation Manager will include, but is not limited to the following:

●        Lead the deployment, implementation and ensure their functionality at all times

●        Work with implementation team members to deploy and maintain applications/databases

●        Responsible to coordinate all training events in the catchment

●        Facilitate coordination events and TWG meetings

●        Provide intensive mentorship and supportive supervision

●        Plan and draw a route map for site implementation support

●        Plan a regular visit to supported sites with Implementation officers and closely follow-up with them to ensure they are using project applications, monitor their functionality, and address/report any issues in a timely manner

●        Work with Regional Health Bureaus to ensure a proper scale up of the project at the selected health facilities.

●        Communicate relevant stakeholders in a pre-deployment process and get sufficient information needed for the deployment

●        Collect and document user feedback and ensure they’re communicated to the right person at the central level

●        Establish and maintain a good working relationship with the site users and regularly meet with implementation officers and area managers

●        Ensure the proper usage of resources including vehicle

●        Carryout administrative requirements such as settling travel advances, submitting required status reports, and timesheets in a timely manner

●        Participate in meetings/workshops as requested

●        Prepare timely reports to the Activity manager on activity status and issues

●        Responsible for implementing JSI's Accountability Framework and Code of Conduct, and adhering to JSI's polices on fraud management

●        Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Applicants for this position should possess the following qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in relevant discipline (Program/project management, public health, computer science and ICT with experience working in the health sector) is required.

  • Minimum of five years of experience working on Health Information System and Digital Health

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline (IT, Networking, Information Systems, Business, etc) is required    

  • Minimum of three years of demonstrated experience on the implementation of digital health solutions 

  • Experience of working in Health information systems is a bonus 

  • Experience working on implementation of health data capturing tools is a plus

  • Proven ability to manage the development and implementation of project activities

  • Deep knowledge of the business processes of the Federal Ministry of Health and its agencies, at all levels, is desired

  • Strong project management and time management skills; highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Strong representational and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent written and verbal English; proficiency in Amharic

  • Proficiency in common computer packages (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel) relevant to the work
