The Consortium of Christian Relief and Development Association (CCRDA) is a national nonprofit umbrella Association of over 450 secular and faith based NGOs/CSOs operating in Ethiopia. 

Job Summary

CCRDA has reframed its Capacity Building Program to meeting the current needs of its members and CSOs.  The defined framework entails energetic, innovative and forward-looking leadership of the program.  Within context, the Director of Capacity Building Team is responsible implementing the new strategy for enhancing organizational sustainability and development effectiveness of the member CSOs by designing and providing tailored capacity building programs that enhance the technical capability and institutional development of CCRDA and of member organizations.  The CB Team Director is expected to have good knowledge and experience on human rights approach for development, Good Governance, Peace Building and Conflict Management in addition to the mentoring and technical backstopping skill. Moreover, the position holder is also expected to run marketable program which can generate income to finance the program.

Responsibilities of the CB Team Director

  • Primarily focus on capacity strengthening of CCRDA's members, image building & the collaboration for joint actions.

  • Develops a comprehensive capacity building plan and package for enhancing members’ organizational and development effectiveness.

  • Ensures the effective and efficient implementation of the organization’s capacity building plan.

  • Ensures that the organizational project planning and management systems and capacity of members in this regard enhanced to address human rights, peace building, good governance, etc issues in their interventions.

  • Ensures that organizations capacity enhanced to access and properly utilize development grants from diversified sources.

  • Leads and coordinates the overall capacity building services and related activities of CCRDA.

  • Scales up CCRDA’s formal and informal training activities.

  • Maps and engages other capacity building institutions and introduce joint CB programs.

  • Takes desirable actions to improve and diversify capacity building initiatives.

  • Provides technical backstopping to the CB team members and the staffs of member organizations on matters related to capacity development.

  • Facilitates experience sharing and learning platforms between members and other similar organizations. 

  • Ensures the development and application of standard institutional and technical capacity assessment tools updated and used properly.

  • Assesses capacity building and funding opportunities and inform members to participate.

  • Assesses and analyzes the impact of the investment on capacity building programs.

  • Serve as  member of the program development team, collaborate and take responsibility within the team

  • Monitors and evaluates capacity building programs.

  • Prepares & submits timely plan & reports on capacity building programs

Report to: Senior Director of Program Development & Management Core Team 

Job Requirements

Education and Experience 

  • University graduate with Master’s Degree in organizational management, human resource development, project cycle management, leadership and management, strategic planning or public administration with 8 years of relevant/related experience three of which should be in capacity development.

  • University graduate with Bachelor’s Degree in organizational management, project cycle management, leadership and management, strategic planning or public administration with 12 years of experience three of which should be in capacity development.
